Headbanging...anyone else?

Ummm what is the story with this? :help:

Is this a phase? Please say its a short one if it is.

DD will purposely bang her head on things. Numerous times so I know that she knows it will hurt. :doh:

She will bang her head against our bed head and when we say no, she laughs and does it again, remove her from being near it and she'll crawl up to it and do it again.

Its driving me nuts because she now has 2 bruises on her forehead and people will look a her and wonder why.

Does anyone else have a head banger?

My nephew is a head-banger. His parents were pretty concerned about it because he does it HARD, but the dr said its pretty normal and is actually a comforting thing. Go figure. I presume they grow out of it at some point.

Two friends in mg have headbangers. One worked out that it was a tired sign so she puts dd to bed when she bangs her head. The other just tried to take no notice of it and her dd grew out of it pretty quickly.

DD2 has done this since she was mobile and still at 17 months does it just now its harder, alot more often and oh so annoying! Ive tried all tips and suggestions i can find to get her to stop but still havent managed to come up with one that has been successful

DS1 did it for a while and it was when he was frustrated and annoyed.

DD1 did it as a tantrum thing - I would walk off and leave her to it, she realised it hurt and she got no attention so she stopped.

DD2 does it with the back of her head and laughs at the noise - she bangs the back of her head on the seat of the highchair and laughs at the noise. I just try to ignore her and hope she stops! I think it is just a phase.

DS was a headbanger but has moved out of that phase... if I remember correctly it did take a couple of months.

I will try and replace with a pillow as she is doing it with the front of her head. If that doesnt work, I will just ignore.

DS is 15 mos and has been doing this for a few months now. He seems to like the noise. Even more he seems to like to do it when he is in his cot and wants our attention... it's so hard to ignore but this seems like the best tack as if I pay attention to it he'll keep doing it?
