Hi all,
DD has had a croaky, husky voice when she babbles and cries. It started last night. She's fine otherwise- usual happy self, no fever. She had a huge screaming fit last night when MIL bathed her (:rolleyes:), is it possible to strain her vocal chords? Or should I take her to the GP, maybe she's getting sick?
Any thoughts appreciated. TIA :)
My son had a sore throat that made him lose his voice (some long name, can't remember it) and I can still remember being so guilty that I couldn't hear him screaming himself to sleep :(
Given her age, I'd be taking her in for a checkup ..
DD had a hoarse cry a couple of weeks ago - we toddled off to the GP who checked her out - same deal, no fever, no apparent pain. her explanation was that sometimes babies go through growth spurts where their voice box doesn't grow quite as quickly as the rest ofthem, so it sounds strained - not sure i believe her, but DD's voice resolved a day or two later - no issues noticed
i think it's worth getting checked to rule out anything else - but it is very possible she has just cried so much that she has a strained voice (poor poppet!)
Thanks girls. she's still croaky, i was going to wait it out and see if she was any better today, but it looks like we're off to the gp tomorrow.
DD gets that sometimes when she has tonsillitis - she's had it twice now, the first time when she was about your DD's age. Although if she still has reflux I think sometimes that can make them hoarse.... I have no idea where I heard that... maybe I read it on the back of a matchbox or something :dunno:

Don't mention the 't' word in this house *cringe* Ds gets it all the time. But funny you should say that about the reflux- she's just come off the Zantac the last two days. hmmm...:
there you go... the matchbox is never wrong ;)
might be an idea to check with the GP anyway though
