Washing detergents for sensitive skin

Hi All,
Just a quick question that I thought might be better put to the BellyBelly community for an answer than muddle through myself. My little 13 month girl has a few issues with eczema. Mostly just the usual, inner arms backs of knees and a bit on her face. We use non-soap QV products and lots of Hydroderm and its pretty much stays in control.

The last few weeks she has started to get a little blotchy/spotty rash around her eyes and on her back, dry and allergic looking. Often worse when she wakes up from a sleep. Today it is much worse on her back and stops exactly where her nappy starts. Seems like a pretty logical conclusion to think she may be allergic to our washing powder on her clothes and sheets.

So off I went to the supermarket thinking that I would pick up some hypoallergenic washing powder but found a distinct lack of choice. I have come home with "Omo Sensitive" and am going to give that a go for a week.

I was just wondering if anyone can suggest some good hypoallergenic products for clothes washing and anything else useful. I am sure someone out there makes them I just need to know how to access them.

We use Amolin. Although DS isn't particularly sensitive so we're probably not a good comparison! Just another choice.. :lol:

Theres actually a 'specially formulated' one for babies skin. Can't for the life of me remember the name of it, but I used it on my dd and it worked great. You can get it in pretty much any Woolies. Either that or try the "Earth" liquid. THat worked well too!

Just a warning - I developed dermatitis after Omo sensitive changed to the small concentrated bottles. Having googled I found that heaps of mums and bubs said they had the same problem once the formula changed in 2008 or 2009. I changed back to Omo regular (concentrated) and had no further issues.

So anyway then came the issue of what to get for bub's clothes... well I read lots of raves about Amolin liquid. I've washed all his gear in it and it smells lovely. Don't know how it will react on his skin as he's still in the womb!

We use soap nuts. Google them. They are really good and both DH and DS have sensitive skin but no reaction to this. I also gave some to my friend who has skin allergies and she was fine with them too.
They are also pretty cheap - we paid around $40 including postage and have had them for around 6 months, with still about a third of the pack left.

I have always had ecezma and DD does as well. We use lux flakes.

Also add a cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle. It removes any remaining residue off the clothes and as a bonus they will be softer.

My girls have sensitive skin and I've found the Aldi sensitive powder excellent

I use Planet Ark Aware for sensitive skin which you can buy in Coles or Woolworths. It's also fragrance free and works well for my DS.

I use DREFT its designed for babies sensitive skin.. love it!

I have used most of them babe, but my kids seem to build up an immunity, and it all comes back again. :wall:

I only use bi-carb soda now in every wash.. clothes, sheets, towels, nappies, everything. Has worked now for almost 2 years, and its heap cheap!!!
