BRO has a White Blood Cell Count of 31, could it be just be an infection/virus?

I received a phone call from my mum today and BRO is in hospital, he got sick on Thursday, vomiting and I assume he must have felt completely rotten as an ambulance was called, and this is a guy who never stops working.

He is undergoing a raft of tests and scans, prostate was checked today and that is fine, WBC was 31, which is really high. He goes in for an ultrasound (I think) on Monday, I guess to see if they can find something.

I am not game to google, but can you have a virus that could cause such high WBC?

Absolutely Beema... Inflammation or an inflammatory illness or infection are the most usual reasons. It sounds like he is pretty crook the poor love... I hope it is just an infection and he improves quickly ..:hug:

Excellent, thankyou Inanna, there are some nasty bugs going around, so the thinking will be that it is just one of those that has hit him hard :hug: It's a bit scary for his wife and four children.

I hope he's okay, My brother had high WBC and was an infection, it's a bit scary when they do all those tests though.

When we lost our :angelbaby: it showed i had a very high wbc and was cause of me having a m/c..
So it could most deff be a infection from a cold... hang in there girl

It should be just an infection and may have hit him so hard as he works so hard all the time, his body might be exhausted xxoo
