I remember reading a while back about a product that helps to clear a baby's nose? Can someone help me out with this please?
I have been up with Phoebe for about an hour and a half as she wouldn't feed back to sleep because she couldn't breathe properly. I tried the spray and she screamed her little head off and it didn't work anyway.
What about a nasal aspirator - a bulb with a sucky bit at the end...
Snacks - I never use the saline that comes with FESS for little noses, I just use the aspirator. But if it is stubborn thick mucous, try sitting her in a steamy room to help loosen it and then suck it out with the aspirator.

Thanks girls... I remember reading a thread ages ago where someone mentioned something for blocked noses and I thought to myself, must remember that for winter... Damn, wish I had've written it down. LOL!
Thanks, Berenice - I've got the aspirator but it seemed like really thick-set stuff. Nothing was coming out with the aspirator.
Totally forgot about steam, MG! (Was the middle of the night and it's summer for goodness' sake, so I suppose I can be forgiven). I'll dig out the vaporiser for tonight methinks.
another trick is if you warm up your forehead with something as simple as a warm hand will unblock any stuffed nose.

Snacks not sure if you are BFing but a drop of BM up each nostril will clear it(do one nostril at a time)

And if you want to go down the 'drug' route....I have some stuff called Otravin (for kids) which helps, but it's hard to get into my DS! It seems to open the airways a bit....but the aspirator from the fess always used to work well for us. DH loved using it on DS!
Definitely BM up the nose, or even just luke warm water will do.
Far out, is there anything breastmilk can't do?!? LOL! I will give it a go.
The vaporiser actually did brilliantly for her last night. It was too hot to keep the door closed, but when she woke for a couple of feeds she hardly snuffled at all. I will remember the tips though, thanks ladies.
Julia, when Phoebe has a really visibly snotty nose I love using the aspirator too - there's something very satisfying about sucking out a massive snot slug, LOL! But it's not that sort of blocked nose - small amounts of clear snot coming out but she's still struggling to breathe.
Otrivin is just saline.
My DD was always very prone to a blocked nose and we used the saline followed by the nasal aspirator - the Otrivin aspirator is much better than the Fess one, I found.
No, she didn't like it much, but it worked like a charm and she actually got used to it and would just pull a face when I did it. As she grew, her little face and nose grew too and she didn't get all blocked up anymore.
If it happens a lot, just hang on to the aspirator and buy regular contact lens saline rather than the special baby nasal saline drops, much much cheaper and exactly the same stuff even though you are buying heaps more. You should chuck out any you have left over after a month. It will be heaps you are throwing out...but still cheaper than buying the baby saline. My friend who is a GP gave me this tip.
