High betas in pregnancy
My friend had a scan at 5weeks 5 days and the heartbeat had only just started. She's concerned because her betas were really high. 16dpo - 2300, 19dpo - 4400 and 21dpo -7800. They are really high numbers and I know it can be an indication of problems. I really want to know If anyone had anything similar happen to them and the outcome was ok?

They seem ok to me. A friend of mine was 1200 at 14DPO so if they were doubling they should have been 2400 by 16DPO and so on. Does seem higher then most but I wouldn't say it indicates a problem or multiples. Congrats to your friend.

At 6 weeks 5 days my HCG was triple the 'normal' ranges for that far along. They indicated that I was more like 9-10 weeks pregnant. I had a scan at 7 weeks and everything was fine. My OB told me the higher the HCG the better and it rarely indicates a problem.

Those seem ok to me too.
High betas don't necessarily mean problems - they can mean multiple babies but not always.

DW had 2,300ish @ 17dpo and 46,000 at 5.5 weeks. She is carrying twins with no problems evident.

My Beta HCG at 5 weeks 5 days was 29 350 and I now have one very healthy and strong 4 month old little girl. I was also told the higher the HCG the better! If the scan looks good than thats fantastic news and from memory (what I was told) from about 8 weeks on bloods are useless as the HCG isnt as important as what is being seen on a scan.

I had super super high betas and was 1 baby in there totally fine!

She told me it is definitely just ONE sac they found and one heartbeat, so no chance of twins.
Thanks for all the replies! If anyone else has a similar story please let me know and I will pass on to her.
