Girls Rooms - wall stickers, paint colors & furniture

I am so so excited, we finally settled on our house and will be doing some painting etc before we move in, DP has the colors all picked for the main walls etc but i am really excited about doing the girls rooms and would love some ideas!

I have an album called OUR HOUSE, am going to upload some pics of their rooms so you can give me some input!

Colour - Neutral creamy/beige with feature wall
Feature Wall - thinking a nice deep color, dark purple or possibly a nice magenta or something???

I would love to get wall stickers but don't want to get anything too childish as they may outgrow it, i was thinking maybe butterflies (for both girls). Will add some pics to the house album that i like and let me know what you think.

At the moment DD1 has her cot, bookshelf, tallboy and rocking chair all in solid timber stained Jarrah... i am thinking we will keep with that color and get her a gorgeous bed i found with a tulip cut out of the bed ends.

DD2 will get DD1's cot and she has a tallboy stained in Jarrah aswell, the change table will also go in her room and we will be getting her a bookshelf.

Is there anything else people found they NEEDED in their kids rooms as they grew?

Ohh i'm so excited, please let me know of any wonderful paint colors or places to look for wall art!

Am thinking might try and find the dark stained wicker (sp?) laundry baskets for their rooms too, DD1 has a touch lamp like that and would love to find something similar for DD2's room.

I got D's butterfly stickers from and online place called Giggle Smile Designs. THey had some fantastic stuff.

Don't forget plenty of toy storage too.

Have a look on Ebay for wall stickers. I picked up some really nice ones for DD from there.
I LOVE the colours you have picked out for a feature wall. I would have chosen the same ones!!!

Maybe a Nice floor mat?? - You can get some gorgeous girls ones!

Have you seen the My Munchkin Home, website? It has some beautiful wall stickers, and ebay as suggested, has some nice ones if you don't mind spending a bit of time looking.

Feature wall - We painted DD's new room just before DS was born, and her feature wall is a dark purple kind of colour, called Purple Rain. Remaining walls are a very light pinky purple colour. Her window has a timber blind, but we put some light curtains on as well, mainly for decoration. Colours were aqua and purple, with sparkly dots.

Another thing we did for DD's room, was an art canvas activity.
I put a pic up in the gallery...will go look for it...Message - BellyBelly Member Photo Gallery I'm not usually a big fan of hanging things on walls, but something you can hang and then remove later on, might be worth considering, over sticking something to the wall?

Have you seen those chalkboard stickers? I love the look of them. Might not be so good for little people though, but possibly when they are older.

Oooh, another idea, you could do a canvas and wrap it in some pretty material. Match it to a wall colour or bedding possibly?

Another website is mooo (with the dot com dot au on the end) they have a few stickers, and personalised canvas art. I'm sure I've seen the personalised canvas on other websites as well??

Forgot to add...a big yeah to the toy storage :) We were able to fit some long, slim plastic storage containers (from buninngs) under DD's bed. This is where her 'treasures' are usually located. The containers have little wheels on the bottom that you can pull out and change the direction of them so they will roll longways or sideways, if that makes sense? Think we paid about 20 bucks each, and they are hidden from view :)

Use a magnetic undercoat, instead of stickers use magnets on the walls, they can be changed on a regular basis.
