I am so fed up with them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wall: :wall:
Everywhere i look there are ants in my house!!!! Now don't get the wrong idea my house is not disgusting, its messy but not that bad to bring in ants. First we had them in the kitchen but we got rid of them, then the bathroom and now they are in the loungeroom and our bedroom!!! I got bitten by one in bed last night.
We have sprayed the outside of our house which stopped little spiders but not the ants.
What should we do?
We had the same problem.
We used ant sand in the pavers around the front and back of the house, DH cleaned the drains out and did an insect bomb.
We've had success with outdoor surface spray - DH basically sprayed around the outside of every door, window and pipe, and they stopped.
I learned on the weekend they hate baby powder (or any powder i think) a friend of mine had them in her bathroom so put baby powder on the floor and they disappeared!
Yeah DP did that too - twice in fact! and these little buggers are still getting in.:
I just called him and said just get something. We will have to organise for the house to be exterminated when we go to melbourne, im sick of these creepy crawlies.
We get ants all the time...ant sand does the trick! Good luck x
REgarding exterminating - keep in mind that this will potentially cause them to keep coming in, and in larger numbers, for 3-5 weeks while they attempt to relocate to get away from whatever was used to posion them.
The should all die very quickly though, you should just see large numbers of dead ants.
We went through this at our old house, and they came in under the skirting boards on the floor. After 4 weeks they were gone though and we never saw another one.
We had a nasty ant problem and found these green bait things from the supermarket that you put down right in their path. Haven't had a problem since. It lures them in and they take the poison back to the nest where they die and the other ants eat the dead one thus passing on the poison. Borax and honey does the same trick but you have to be careful where you put it if you have kids and pets.
OH dont start me on the Ants!!! I had them so bad last year they got in my moden and it almost died!!
They were coming in my kitchen and i put everything (honey sugar etc) into bags/boxes, then i would get up every morning and be scrabbling around on the floor following lines of them going everywhere. In the end they moved into the seel around the freezer and there was literally hundreds living in there. Crazy!
I followed them all the way to the nest out in the garden and boiled it. and that was the end of them!
This year i had a few 'attacks' but ive got that stuff you put down and they take it to the nest and it kills the nest. its like a personal vendetta :rofl:

we have the same prob and my house is clean as...
they actually come in looking for water believe it or not.. planning on ant sanding my house very soon
they don't like liquid soap..so use it on an otherwise dry cloth, run it around the edges of things like windowframes, doors..other cracks/holes ..wherever they're coming from and see if that works
I'm with Beckoes, if you can find the nests (in between the outdoor brick pavers at our house) boil the kettle and pour it down!! It works and it's safe for the kids and pets. Although... I do feel a bit bad for the poor little things... boiling to death... (I got over it pretty quickly!) It does sound as though your ant problem may be more advanced than ours was though...
DP bought some surface spray and we sprayed everywhere the ants were but we will have to find the nest. Im guessing its out the front so will send DP out later to have a look.
The nest could be anywhere, including underneath the house, or not even on your property at all, so be prepared for a thorough search.

There are hundreds of ants all over my laundry floor this morning, and in the dirty washing basket! Gross!! They are coming in under the laundry door so I put some baby powder on the floor along the bottom of the door and that's stopped them from coming inside, so now it's just the ones stuck inside I have to contend with...I've put some Ant Rid down but they dont seem too interested in it.
As someone else said they are looking for water (or more specifically moisture). If you can disrupt their trail that helps too.
