blocked milk ducts??? and a really sore nipple

Hi all, hoping someone might be able to give me an idea what this is and why it is happening again and again.

My left boob is constantly getting what feels like blocked milk ducts. The bottom half of my boob is drain when my 6 month old feeds, but the top half still stays rock hard and is really sore. It usually fixes up after a day or two but is horrible painful when it happens. Also when ever this happens I get a really sore nipple, it doesnt look sore, but geez it hurts. I am doubting a Dr would be able to tell me what is wrong coz it looks perfectly normal.

I dont understand why I keep getting these "blocked milk ducts" again and again, always in my left boob and at least once a fortnight for a day or two. my nipple was just starting to get better from the first time it happened then I got it again and now my nipple is sore again.

Im wondering if my nipple is sore because my daughter is feeding a different way due to not getting the full milk supply???? But like I said, it looks fine and I dont have any attachment issues.

Hoping someone might be able to enlighten me as to what this is and why its happening.

I wonder, is your bra or anything constricting that breast? Do you sleep on that side at night, and would that constrict the breast? It sounds like you have had a slight touch of mastitis, even though you haven't had the classical symptoms of it.

Try to massage that area in the shower or while feeding. It might be helpful to put an icepack on the sore spot to reduce inflammation. If it's still no better consider going to the dr to get his opinion on whether a course of antibiotics is required

Thanks Barb, I think Im gunna make a Dr appointment today, Im in sooooo much pain I feel like my left boob is gunna explode, its hurts so much to touch, Ive tried expressing using my breast pump, massaging, hot shower, cabbage leaves nothing seems to work. So anyway, yeah, making a Dr appointment today, I cant go on like this all the time :-(
