Girls Name - Need to find the one!

Hiya,

I have just found out that bubby is likely to be a girl (if not then that is okay as I have my boy name all picked our ready I was so sure this one was another boy! LOl) and we have an absolutly HUGE list of girls names, but absolutely no clear favourite. I keep imagining the birth notice and I just have a big blank! My DS is Alexander Ethan and I knew that almost from day 1.

I need some suggestions badly as I keep hoping that the right name is out there I just haven't seen it yet. I like feminine names that won't date too badly but are not too popular (ie. I adore Chloe, Ava and Sophie, but they are a bit overused at the moment IYKWIM). :pray:

I LOVE Tansy - I only heard of it for the first time a few weeks ago, which, after 10 years in childcare makes it definitely not an over-used name! For me it ticks all the boxes - unusual but classic, and not too tricky to spell.

I also love Tessa.

I like Annalise and Annalie. My DD is Leila Annalise.

I like Amelie or Ariana from your list.

I do like Ava too... pity that it's used a bit now.

What do you think? I am hugely concerned about giving her a name that she will have to spend the rest of her life explaining ("no its Amelie, not Emily", "no, it is pronouned Tay is, not Tassie", "no, it is Amieka, not Anieka". and so on....) but want something that is not overly common. Wow!! Finding this SO much harder than last time..

My DS is Alexander, and I've had a few people comment that I shouldn't use an A starting name for our daughter... We just like the sound and how it goes with our surname (which starts with a D and has an 'er' ending) but wondering if they are right.. Are we stiffling her individuality??

I personally love Annaliese best from your list ;). I have an Anelise and everyone comments on how pretty her name is.

I tend to agree with the friends who suggest another first intial other than A. Letters come in the mail with just a first intial and surname... maybe it won't bother you if something comes in the mail addressed to A Surname... but it was something I didn't want any confusion over in our house hold. Also school/clubs often print A Surname on trophies and award boards. There might be a plaque that lists A Surname up at your kids school and everyone might wonder which child it was. Oh and on our medicare card it just lists our kids intitials because we have a long surname...glad they all have different ones or it would be confusing.

Quinn is interesting. Lots of great suggestions too.... love Tabitha.
