Am I right to get a 2nd opinion?

HI Ladies

I'm on cycle #7 for clomid and i am yet to see my BFP. We have been TTC for 12months now and 7 of those has been assisted.

I recently had a lap to check to make sure my tubes are clear.

I'm not having any monitoring to see if I have O'd. For the first 4 cycles I was having BT but now nothing.

I don't get a lot of instructions with what follows on from one cycle to the next.

I've been seeing my FS for over 6 months and I do like her but I need to start looking at other options now. I have an appointment with QFG in 2 weeks time to get his opinion.

I guess I'm feeling guilty for even thinking about getting another opinion. I feel like I'm being disloyal.

I have an appointment with my GP to get the referral to go to QFG and I'm worried he won't give it to me (there is no reason why he shouldn't).

I believe you are absolutely right to get a 2nd opinion about anything... :hug: don't feel guilty, what's the worst that can happen? they tell you the same thing as your current FS... the best? you are more informed and have more options.

From what I understand that most FS prescribe clomid for 6 months for OI because most pregnancies result within that timeframe, with a big drop off after that. There are other OI options such as FSH which some people move onto depending on their situation.

I've had some things done in a different order to you. I had a HSG to check my tubes first, because no point doing OI if they're blocked. Then I went on Clomid and I have weekly U/S to check on follicle development and have a HCG trigger injection to ensure ovulation on time. It's then presumed I ovulate. I have a BT to check for pregnancy and progesterone levels at 14DPO. Ovulation was never a problem with me...it was just very late and a short LP.

I'm about to move onto a lap.

I wouldn't feel guilty about a second opinion because there are other treatment options you can explore...particularly because you've tried it for 6 months. Don't feel guilty by taking charge of your body and your fertility. From what I've read on BB it seems that taking charge is important to getting results, particulary when things aren't working.
