Infected Teething Rash
Phoebe has a tooth coming through at the bottom, but it has been for ages with no sign of cutting through. In the mean time between the dribbling and the humidity she is getting nasty teething rash. Recently a spot of teething rash became infected with bullous impetigo!
I have been treating it with betadine and every time I think I am getting it under control, more rash appears and between the drooling, bfing and the fact that her hands are the coolest thing in the world to chew on, its practically impossible to stop contact transmission!
I am at my wits end. I feel utterly horrible. My poor little baby has horrible spots all over her face and three big nasty ones on her chest and I just can't handle looking at her like that anymore. Its breaking my heart.
Does anyone know any tricks to help prevent any more rash appearing so I can finally treat what is there now. :crying:

 I've not seen a rash from teething. When my kids have a rash and only when it is quite red, do I apply cortisone cream (available over the counter), and that works, then I go back to much less serious creams. Talk to your chemist, and just ask what would be suitable.
I don't feel I've been much help, sorry, but definitely more .

The only thing I could think of would be to cover the spots up, to try & stop the contact transmission - but that would be harder with the spots on her face.
And do they need to air out?
Poor baby  hope you find a solution soon

Ok, so I took her to the Drs today - started worrying about how much Iodine she must be absorbing through the skin from the betadine. Dr gave me some keflex for her. Said it should clear up the impetigo toot sweet. Then I can get back to just worrying about the dribble rash...
Thank you ladies for your replies.

My DH is a dr and he said straight away when i just asked him that the best way to fix it is antibiotics..... so perhaps you need to go see your Dr hon:)

I have been clearing Charlie's heat rash/teething rash up with paw paw ointment. after the antibiotics clear the impetigo maybe try preventing further rash with pawpaw? Worked wonders on an antbite the other day too. In the ant's defence, she was trying to catch it.
