We have a cot that we want to try sand back and either paint or stain, am just wondering what we could use that would be safe for the baby? Any ideas would be great, thanks!

Hey!
I'll ask my DH tonight for you (he's a cabinet maker) and will either post tonight or tomorrow morning with his answer.
How are things going with you?
Yay! Dr Tal to my rescue again!! Thanks lovely!!
Im gooood! Cruising along! Attempting to get rid of chemical cleaners in my house now that i cant use most of them hehe! How are you? Whens your scan?
Good question Ammaki, we have a cot that we want to do the same thing with so Dr.Tal I can't wait to read your reply too ;) Hope you are both doing great xoxox
Hello lovely ladies!
Spoke to DH last night. He said he's never heard of anything about baby safe stains and varnishes. He said he'd definitely laquor/varnish over the stain if you do stain it. Not just stain it though, as stains can leach and that would be the only problem that he could see.

Thought I'd add a bit of a scan update in for you. Had my scan yesterday. They did a bit of 4D scanning. It was really cool watching the heart but the face in 4D was a bit creepy. After seeing it I'm convince I was abducted in October and will be giving birth to a lizard like alien :o
In all seriousness though, I personally thought the 3D scan of the face was heaps better then the 4D. Just my own personal opinion though
Thanks for the info tal!!
Yay for the scan going well!! Did you cave and find out the sex? I would have hehe.
Nope, didn't cave. DH told the ultrasonographer right at the start we didn't want to know the sex, so she never asked. That having been said, by the end of the scan I SO wanted to know and kept hoping that I might see a something.
Hey we painted our DS's cot too
We bought Dulux, then rang the company to ask (forgot to ask bunnings lady when we bought it). The man at that dulux service centre said all dulux paints have been approved baby safe, for toys, furniture - you name it since the 1980's (cant remember the exact date)

Great! Thanks tellytubby!!
I repainted my DD1s cot, i just asked the paint guy to recommend ones that are non toxic, ie no lead and things in case she became a chewer. So he got me a dark stain that he said was ok
Ive purchased a white cot now so we're not going to sand it back but just touch it up, so will definately ask the paint man whats best!
