New Here
Hi all,
I'm new here. My DH (25) had a semen analysis about two weeks ago and the results came back that he has no sperm. We get the results of the 'double check' test tomorrow. We were both devestated but had thought through the options and were feeling positive about it all - but now I've just seen how much all the fetility treatment at Westmead Fertility Centre (NSW) have gone up since the beginning of this year (were around $350 out of pocket for IVF - now $1400ish!!). Don't know what we are going to do now! We are on pensions and have no health insurance.
The doc last time we saw him mentioned that they can find out if DH is making any semen - but if he isn't we will have to go down the route of sperm donation. It's all so much up in the air at the moment and I'm confused about everything that is happening!
The only positive thing is that this cycle is the first in a long long time that I haven't tortured myself wondering if I'm preggers and overthinking any twinges thinking that they are signs!

Hi lillyb and welcome to BellyBelly - I'm sorry the circumstances aren't better ones
If you want to find out more about donor conception, or chat to others that may have used donor sperm, you can check out our donor conception support forum.
All the best~~

Hi, im new to bellybelly too and in a similar position we have been TTC for over 3 years and just got DH second semen analysis back which confirmed first test results of a zero sperm count! :shakehead:
Going to visit specialist at Fertility North in Joondalup tomorrow but have been doing a lot of Google research in preparation so I can see there is still lots of hope:pray:
Whatever the plan of attack is on the baby making I can see it will cost us a minimum of 2 grand, we will just have to find the money somewhere too! Even after looking through our private health insurance I can see most people rely on the medicare rebates which are actually quiet generous after you hit the 1 grand mark, its just the initial up front payment which is hard which is why I plan to extend the credit card:D I know here in Perth there is a fertility clinic that has a payment plan, is there one near you?
Good luck with it all:hug:

Good luck and wishing you lots of support.

Hi girls,
Im in the same boat, tests have confirmed DH has zero sperm. We got back from the FS last week devestated. They have told us that the reason he has no sperm is because he is missing part of the Y chromosome from his sperm. If two parts of the test come back bad then there is nothing else they can do....we either use a sperm donor or adopt. If they come back average then they can go in and see if he has any sperm surgically, we have been told the chance of this are slim though.

Hi,
I am a newbie here too and we are also in the same boat.
DH and I found out nearly a year ago that we had severe mfi. DH's first sa came back with no sperm, the one at the fs found just 4 sperm, all immotile.
We start icsi at the end of July, DH having to have a biopsy to get sperm for this procedure.
This has come as a huge shock to both of us especially as everyone we know can fall pregnant just by being in the same room as their partners.
Our fs seems to think that icsi will work for us, so we are hoping he is right!
I hope everyone gets their dreams come true very soon and that their ivf journey is a short one.
