This could be it... *update* This IS it!

It's been three days since DD had a bf - I'm tentatively thinking I could be looking at her fully weaning.

We went away on the weekend and I got up earlier than her. She was so excited about our trip that she didn't notice we didn't have our usual morning bf in bed. Then she spent the night having a 'sleep over' at a good friend's house with their LO and she certainly didn't miss me then (you should have seen the tears when we left later that day!!). This morning she slept in and I was already up. She wanted breakfast first, suggested she might have a bf afterwards, but wasn't interested in the end (I didn't offer, but she said she was full and didn't ask).

So that's been three days in a row. I don't think it'll take long for my supply to drop, given she's only been having very short bfs as it is. She may come back for a few more, but we'll see.

If this is it, she's bf for 3 years, 11 months and 2 days!

what a wonderful BFing journey you & your DD have had, it's certainly inspirational to a BFing newbie like me!

You could be right, marcellus. Knowing DD, she'll probably be back tomorrow morning! :rolleyes:

But it's definitely an indication that she's losing interest, 'cause there are things that are waaaaayyy more interesting than bby snuggles in bed! If she comes back some mornings, I might try getting up in the morning before her, if she's having a sleep in on others. That will ease her out of it more gradually if that's what she wants.

Thanks girls and shucks :redface:. We haven't done anything particularly special, in the end it's just been following DD's lead.

Wow - you may think it is just you following your DDs lead but to many BBers you are a person that they think of quite fondly when they think of their aspirations for their breastfeeding journey with their child... I know you are that for me

Jen, you have been so inspirational for me (and many others!) since I've been BF'ing and you certainly have helped me lean towards looking at letting my DD now self-wean herself when she's ready one day!

Good on you for giving your daughter the VERY BEST start in life.... not just nutritionally but with the right comfort when she's needed it, security, hugs etc.....

Woohoo, and boohoo!!!! Congratulations Jen, even if she doesn't wean just yet, you have done an amazing job for her. I just hope DS and I can make it that far! We are 19mths and going strong, and counting :)

Another missed bf this morning too. I sort of convinced her to come into bed for a quick snuggle and bf after breakfast, but it didn't last long and I just thought I'd like to 'remember' the last bf properly.

So I'd say this is it. I won't bother offering for my own sake and I'll enjoy the cuddles I can now have with DP in the morning instead. My baby girl is all grown up!
