reccomend me your fave pram/stroller please

I am not even pg again yet LOL but I like to have everything planned out in my head anyway:redface:

With DS I had a cheap 3 wheeler stroller. It only had 2 seat positions which was annoying, the hood didn't give much protection at all, and the pram would tip when I walked on uneven pavements.

Also had an umbrella stroller that was suitable from birth, it was a good stroller but the handle was a bit too low.

I need a pram/stroller that fits these criteria:

Adjustable handle height
At least 3 seat positions
Decent hood coverage
No air tyres
Stable
Fit in a Falcon sedan boot okay
Under $1000

Would love to hear from any of you who have a pram/stroller thats fits the bill :)

BTW it doesnt need a toddler seat, DS is too big for strollers now

Widdly- I have a Steelcraft Strider DLX (which have now been
replaced with the Strider Plus). It has solid tyres, 3 seat positions, large hood that pulls down quite far, adjustable handle height, reversible seat and you can also buy the capsule and bassinette to make it a travel system.
It is quite large to fit in the boot but we have a Holden Commodore and it does fit so it will fit in a falcon.
It is stable but you can't put a nappy bag over the handles.
I love mine. It's got a massive shopping basket too!

I test drove the Strider Plus a couple of weeks ago and loved it, and I have been leaning toward it.

im getting a strider plus :) the pram i have now is just crap

I've got the Peg Perego Skate which i LOVE - but its go rear air tyres so thats out for you! - BUT - i was reading the sunday herald sun and a group of mums did a road test of different prams and the City Mini Stroller came up with 9/10 - just google it and have a look at their website :)

We have a maclaren vogue which I love. It doesn't have adjustable handles but the next model up, the techno, does.

We went with the maclaren because it was suitable from birth, seemed quite stable (although it isn't recommended to put bags on the handles), and most importantly fit in our tiny boot.

JwithJ - what pram do you have atm?

Negrita - I checked outthe City Mini, but it doesn't have the adjustable handle height unfortunately, thanks for the suggestion though

Sarebear - when I was pregnant with DS I really wanted to buy a maclaren tehno, but we had less than no money in those days, so i didnt get it. I have said for the last few years that if I have another bub i will get the Techno, but I worry about bub sleeping comfortably in it, the stability and where do I put the nappy bag? WHere do you put yours? Also how do you find the hood coverage in the sun?

all i can say is its friggen huge and i dont like the toddler having to sit up all the time and i would like jamie to be able to have naps too its a bootiq ruby trek i think its the 3 wheel one with pump up wheels i swear they popped so many times im just so sick of it

I love the strider plus too! Am really happy with it as a single - love the size of the shopping basket as BlueSky mentioned, as we walk to the shops a couple of times a week.

I put the nappy bag on the handles and its fine. Although I noticed, it does slide right down when the seat is reverse facing, as it doesn't have the hood to stop it sliding down. The way round this is to buy hooks/clips that you fasten onto the handles (mine velcro on) and then you just hang the nappy bag of these - works a treat.

I also have the Maclarent Vogue, which doesn't have adjustable handles but the handles are taller than other umbrella strollers. It has 3 seat positions, one is completly flat so suitable for nb's. DD sleeps ok in it, although she was sleeping in it when we were at my brothers the other night, and because her legs now hang over the edge of the seat, we think she got cramp as she woke up screaming and shaking her legs. I put the nappy bag over the handles, which is still pretty stable with a 12kg toddler in it but as soon as you add another bag of shopping or something, when you take the toddler out, it tips backward.

Just not sure for $600 whether I would get enough use out of the Strider? The seat doesnt look all that tall for a toddler and I wonder if i will get sick of putting it in and out of the car all the time.

If the nappy bag isn't too heavy I'll put it on the back of the pram and I haven't had a problem yet, i think now that DS is a bit heavier that helps too. These days I have a fold out nappy mat bag thingy that lives on the handles of the pram, and I put his water, snacks, toys etc in my bag if we're just doing a quick trip.

The seat does recline all the way back and there's a cushiony head support that looks pretty comfy. DS sleeps so well in it, he slept for 2.5 hours at the shops today, I ran out of things to look at! The only thing with the seat reclining is that once it's all the way down you can't get things in and out of the bottom very easily.

The hood is excellent, it has an extra zip that lowers it further when it's really bright.

The handles don't extend but Dh and I both find it comfy to push, I'm short and he's tall and we both like it...
