Questions for mums who wrap their older bubs
My DS is 7.5 months old now. At around 4 months we stopped wrapping him because he had figured out how to roll on to his tummy in his cot and I was worried about him getting stuck. It took quite awhile to get him settling and sleeping well again, but after much perserverence we got there, and now he sleeps on his tummy all the time. Before we stopped wrapping he was sleeping through every night, and after a couple of weeks we got back to him sleeping through again.
Then when he got to 5 months he started teething. Ever since he hasn't started sleeping through again. Every now and then (maybe once a week on average) he will sleep through, but most nights he wakes up at least once but quite often it is two or three times. I had thought it was a combination of things, teething, development (learning to sit up and crawl) etc, but now I am beginning to wonder.
When he starts crying I go in and 9 times out of 10 he will either be on all fours or sitting up with his eyes still closed. I think when he comes to the end of a sleep cycle he stirs and is getting into this position without being properly awake, but then waking himself up as a result.
So I have been toying with the idea of wrapping him again, but am still a bit unsure. I know lots of people swear by wrapping older bubs, but I do still worry about him getting stuck on his tummy and have a few questions.
Do you wrap your older bub?
Do they sleep on their tummy? If they do, do you put them in the cot this way?
Do they get out of it?
Do they still wake through the night (or day - I find I have to settle DS back to sleep for most naps as well)?
Do you have any tips for me?
TIA
