where is the best spot for the potty to be?

Hi all;

Ok so I'll start off with the top question, where do you find/have you found the best spot for the potty to live whilst tt your tot?
I did start off with it in the lounge room but once we moved house I put it in the bathroom next to the toilet. (yet in both cases DD1 isnt very interested in it being in either spot!)

2nd question: As of today DD1 has to wear a patch on her eye for an hour every day. I want to start tt soon as its getting colder each day here, but Im not too sure how long I should wait between introducing each new thing?

Also she is showing every sign of being ready for tt, she quite often knows when she is doing something, has done something. Then she wants her nappy changed instantly, if its not done within a minute of her telling me then she refuses to let me change her (which is hard especially if she tells me when Im bfing her sister! :rolleyes: )
I let her run around naked a fair bit (when at home :D ) and shes had a few accidents, she runs over and tells me she done wees, gets the paper towel or a towel from the dirty wash pile, and cleans it up but when I mention the potty or using the toilet she freaks out and quite firmly tells me no!!!!! :wall: So Im also wondering how I can get her round to the idea of using a toilet? Although it is very cute to see her running through the house saying 'mum wees' and grabbing whatever to clean up her mess whilst telling daddy not to step in it is very cute, I think I would prefer it for the short term if possible! :pray:

We have baby seats / steps in both our ensuite and bathroom, and a potty in the dining/lounge room and another which moves around between the deck and the kitchen.

I was going to be cheeky and say "under the tot's bum!"

Our potty is in the lounge room, where most of his playthings are. Other than that, we have a wee man and toilet insert in the main toilet and a toilet insert in our ensuite

I actually let DD pick. Everywhere I put it she didn't like but as soon as I let her pick she loved it. I guess it gave her a sense of ownership and control.

Our potty has always been in the bathrooms (we have 3 toilets!)
I figured that once they're TT, they shouldn't go pee in the loungeroom/dining room/play area's so introducing them to using the bathroom from day dot seemed to be the thing that worked for us.

So far potty is in the bathroom next to the toilet. every time we ask her if she wants to use it, we get a very cheeky nooooo! I actually think she thinks we're a little crazy for asking her to go to the loo on the potty or toilet at the moment! :P

When my kids first started toilet training we had the potty in the lounge room for easy access. Once they got the hang of it I moved it into the toilet.

Does she like to read? DD will spend ages on the loo with a basket of books and that was effective for us when we first TTed and wanted to get her used to a potty. Maybe even a special one she could only read while sitting? (sparkly pictures etc)

Ours was originally in the lounge area, but she TTed very quickly and I changed to the toilet seat insert fairly early on. I wanted the potty to be close to where she would most likely be (playroom/lounge) in the early stages.

Thanks CB- Unfortunately the only time DD1 is still is when she is asleep! She did sit on it in the beginning but once she found out what it is for, she hasnt gone back :(

Tinks- nice idea, Im still trying to toss it up whether I should bring it out of the bathroom and into the living area!
