So over childrens shoe & clothing sizes!

Today i bought DD 4 pairs of shoes - 2 pairs of thongs and 2 pairs of shoes from k-mart!

And guess what, i had to buy THREE yep thats right THREE different sizes!
Thongs from Cotton On Kids = size 8 :o
Shoe 1 - Size 4
Shoe 2 - size 5

And the shoes from k-mart are the same brand? :wall:

In DD's cupboard at the moment i have t-shirts ranging from 00 - 1, her pants are generally an 0 but ALL leggings are a 1 and skirts sometimes a 00-1... WTF is going on?

I seriously wish there was some regularity in sizing, even within the same brand.. I LOVE the Mini Mango brand but each item i buy is different, i need DD there just to make sure something is going to fit!

Tell me about it. Charlie has clothes ranging from 0 to 3 in her wardrobe and they all fit perfectly. Shoes are especially important at your DD's age to fit right though because you can ruin thier developing feet so easily

I always try shoes on with her there but i just couldn't believe the sizes ranged so much.. it's crazy... we should protest for guidelines to make the sizes the same ;)

Oh I know, it's awful isn't it! Oskar is mainly 2 or 3 in clothes but some 4's fit... then Elijah, well he's in 00 - 1. Sooooo hard!

I hear you DS1 wears 00 up to 1 depending on brand!!!!

DS is in 3 different sizes. As for shoe sizings and brands... aaaaagh! I just ask "What's that size in Clarkes?" as everyone knows that conversion for some reason.

It's terrible! DD is wearing size 00-0 tops and size 0-1 pants (cloth nappies though so her pants always have to be bigger). But she has a 0000 t-shirt from best & Less and it still fits her!!

Yep, same here too. I just brough DS and DD new shoes and DS's shoes were a bigger size than DD's!! He's 16mths younger than her. In his wardrobe we have size 0-2, in DD's wardrobe from sizings 1-4. It all depends on the brand of clothes and what it is (eg, pants/tops/jumpers...). A real pita when someone asks 'What size is she/he?' It sounds kinda funny saying 'Ummm, I'm not sure?' I'm their MOTHER I should know!! LOL

DD has clothing from 0 - 2 & shoes from a 3-6 that a fit, drives me nuts because if someone wants to give her clothes they have to buy a bigger size just to make ure she will fit it. And the amount of shoes she got given & has never worn because they have never fit her feet

I wonder if there is any way of pushing for better regulations.. i understand sometimes clothes have different cuts etc and sit on different parts of the body but the variance is AMAZING!

That's why I never buy a pair of pants unless they have the adjustable waist elastic in them. I've seen sz1 pants with the same width waist band as a sz5 in some brands and there is no way known that they would fit a baby/small child, even the chubbiest babies wouldn't fit them I don't think. We've been really lucky with shoes though because there are only 3 brands of shoes that I buy my kids - clarks, gro-shu and Thomas Cook because they are the only ones that have a wide fitting but if I brought a heap of different shoe brands I would notice probably.

It drives you absolutely insane doesn't it. To get DD to try on clothes is a nightmare so it takes me a few trips to and from the shops to get clothes that fit - AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!

Liviam - I'm forever buying something, getting DD to try it on at home and taking it back!

What I don't get is how sizes can differ from the same shop? I bought DD 2 t-shirt material dresses from Target - same size, except one is already short enough to be a t-shirt and the other sits at a decent lenght just above her knee :confused:

In some shops, she's still a size one, in another shop, I just had to had to get her a size 3!
