hey ladies..
I have been asked to compile a 30 to 40 minute session on road safety / parents / kids / babies etc for work.
So what info as a parent would you like to learn about from say, someone like me lol (mother and police officer)?
Seat belts and the surrounding laws / what to do when toddlers learn how to undo their harness whilst your driving / fatigue - esp for those sleepless nights - warning signs etc / safely unloading kids from the car in busy carparks....
Throw your ideas at me :-)

We already have programs especially for children, so we're aiming this one to the parents.

Is it just about car's, otherwise as a parent, what are the rules about taking my kids on my push bike with one of the bike seats that attach, do they need to wear a helmet and so on.
Around where I live heaps of parents with the buggys being towed by their push bikes, are there restrictions on these?? What are the safety issues with these.
Alot of people now using motor scooters/bikes to get around these days...what age can you take your child on the back?

Definitely the new restraint laws. Maybe some info on how to fit each type of restraint and what is correct and incorrect? You could have some photos on correct and incorrect?
Also, and this may sound dumb but some parents just don't know, how to do up a car seat properly. I've seen some really SHOCKING and dangeous ways of doing up a car seat, twisted straps, too tight, too loose, parents have added padding underneath/around their child etc.
What about laws surrounding leaving your kids in the car?
What to do when your kids are crying, screaming, or fighting in the car? I know this is a HUGE source of distraction for many parents.
Giving your kids food while driving (choking hazards etc)? Long-distance travel tips?
BBL gotta shower and dinner, but I'll think of some more :)
Why one should obey parking and speed restrictions around schools, and what risks are there to yours and others children by not doing so.
Great idea, but a real legal minefield. We had a VIc Roads guy come to do a talk on the new car seat laws and he basically said that he and anyone at Vic roads cannot fit your seat, or even advise if it has been done correctly. He basically advised that we needed to see a proper fitting station for any help.:
Hmmm, ok well scrap the fitting idea. How about just advising people to get it professionally fitted lol.
