Root Canal - How Sooky Can I Expect DP To Be?

DP went to the dentist for a filling this morning but just sent me a text saying they are starting a root canal.

I know nothing about such things. I've had two fillings in my entire adult life.

What's a root canal and how sooky will he be? Will he be able to talk/eat when he gets home?

Poor thing was meant to be going to an important union meeting afterwards where he was going to slam his union leaders for a recent fiasco but obviously that's not going to happen if he's got his mouth stuffed with cotton wool.

Be prepared - it will be worse than childbirth! He will not be able to talk or eat and will probably just want to go to bed.

I had one in my frount tooth, the pain I was in before was so much worse than getting it fixed, I didnt find it too bad after, as it relived the pain I had ben in iykwim... but it took lots and lots of visits and cost a lot of money, plus it makes your tooth go black as the root is gets killed, so if its a back tooth I would just get it taken out... IMO, If he was getting his wisdom out them he would be in for all kinds of pain!
