Ideas for clothes storage!

Hi all,

I am currently looking for creative, space-saving ways to store all of DD's clothes that she has grown out of.

We don't want to offload them on anyone as we are thinking of having a third and it may be another girl, so we need to keep them - as space-savingly efficiently as possible!

How can I do it? We are so limited for storage space... I think the bags full of clothes in her wardrobe is not the best idea!

I was thinking possibly some of those plastic crates with lids from Bunnings/Targets, then sorting and labelling - Growsuits 4x0, 3x0 etc? For ease of locating?

But those boxes are so big...

My GF used the clear boxes & they were marked in sizes and she stored them in her garage. I use the space saver bags - you know the ones that you suck all the air out with a vacumn as they shrink down. Only thing is they can get a little heavy to carry, so might not be good being pg.

I'd go with those space bags that you can suck the air out of, Rhi is right though, they can get heavy but you can buy them in different sizes so maybe get the medium sized ones so that are not too bad to move around

I was thinking about those space saver bags - where can I get them from? Are they expensive?

DH is planning on building a storage shed/garage type thing outside, if the clothes were in the plastic boxes do you think they'd be waterproof/safe??

You can get those vacc space saver bags from ebay.

I am planning on getting some and storing DD clothes in them then popping them into one of those plastic tub things.

the vacc bags dont do so well with cats. watch for points, because they will re-inflate if they touch anything sharp

I just found some on Deals Direct but shipping is $10... bit of a rip off...

Does Kmart or Target sell them?? Might have a look over the weekend.

Thanks for the pointer about sharp things and cats' claws - I'd better keep kitty away!

My advice is to cull some and keep some (only your favorites + really handy but unexciting things like singlets, bibs, onesies). I kept a lot of DD1's clothes without really sorting thru and when the time came to use them, we only used some - the ones I liked the most - because let's face it - shopping for baby clothes is fun! :lol:

For storage, I would recommend using stackable lidded crates, with bags of dried lavender or cedar balls to keep the critters away.

I just got one for DD's clothes from Target. I plan on putting the space vac bags into storage containers. Just that extra layer, cos all those creepy crawlys will get in anywhere. Plus it makes for easier stacking :) $2 dollar style shops often have them too.

because I used disposables with DD#1 I had heaps of huggies boxes - I have put her old clothes in them under the cot! When DD#2 needs the next size I just pull it out! Not the flashest of storage systems, but it was cheap and its handy! :lol:
