IVF question
Hi
Does anybody know when you are starting an IVF cycle, do you have to be around the whole time or can you start an IVF cycle knowing that you will be out of the state for a few days i.e. can they 'control' your cycle to work around this kind of thing??
Thanks for any help on this matter, I've never done IVF before and am keen to start as soon as I can.
Thanks.

You can take your drugs with you, but you may still need to do the blood tests. I've forgotten already the frequency of tests for that part... doh!

Hi Daisymags,
Welcome to BB! You might want to join in the IVF discussion and chat forums here where more people going through IVF are likely to see your question, and you'll meet some fantastic, supportive people whilst you're at it!
My answer to your question would be: It depends on which part of your cycle you are going through. If you are going through down regulation on a long cycle, then I can't see that it would be problem. But if you're away whilst you are going through stimulation then it might be different, and it would probably depend on what your FS thought about the timing, and what you clinic's protocol was for monitoring during stimulation (i.e. how many blood tests and/or scans). I would have a chat to your FS about it if I were you, or even just call your clinic nurses to see what they thought - they're the people most likely to be able to tell you the answer, especially if you know the dates you're going to be away already.
All the best, and I hope any upcoming IVF treatment if quickly successful for you!
:)

Talk about it with your FS... He or She may want to schedule scans or blood tests and may be wanting to keep an eye out for things like OHSS, which of course is something you want to avoid at all costs.
You're clinic may be a part of a network of clinic where they 'may' agree to share the handling of your IVF procedure. (I have heard of this indirectly)
Only you know what you are comfortable with, and only your doctor can make the recommendations that are in your best interest.
Good Luck :)
