Weight gain in pregnancy
Not that i will complain, and not that i have weighed myself since i was about 6 weeks and at that appt i found out i had lost 5kgs.
BUt my clothes seem to be getting looser... i had quite a few pair of jeans that i wore before falling pregnant and they were a tad tight now they slide on easily. I wore a shirt yesterday that was always tight on my chest, my waist and unbearable on my arms and again it fits perfectly. My mum was over yesterday and she said she couldnt fit into her normal clothes at 8 weeks, here i am at 20 weeks and still in my normal clothes..
Now my belly is quite big and my boobs have outgrown all my bras. I know your body changes during pregnancy but i thought id get really fat.
I have been eating really well. I have cut down my portions, only in fear of stuffing myself stupid and throwing up minutes later. I walk quite regularly but want to increase how much i do.
Do you think its possible to continue to stay like this or will i at some point see weight coming on?
-
I wore all my normal clothes up until 30 somthing weeks with DD>
-
Some people just don't put on alot of weight, hopefully you are one of the lucky ones!!!
Aslong as your dr is happy with your progress i would not worry about it!!
As for clothes i would think that eventually your clothes would not fit and you will have to wear bigger ones or maternity!!
I know that some of my clothes i can wear for my entire pregnancy. I have only put on 2.5 kg so far and i am happy with that!

Hey Love,
Weight gain during pregnancies varies from woman to woman, The average weight gain is between 10kgs-13kgs, but some women are different as i said before.
It could be also If you are excessively sick during the earlier months of pregnancy, you may find you do not put on any weight for a while (or possibly even lose weight). Usually when the nausea and/or vomiting settles, your appetite returns and you have a 'growth spurt' for a few weeks, as your body 'catches up'
could also be that some women retain more fluid than others. you could just be one of the lucky ones who doesnt retain much fluid.
Good luck

I only put on 8kgs with both of mine. It was the fluid retention at the end that came with PE that made it look a thousand times worse.
-
I lost weight at the start - I wasn't keeping food down and was generally ill. My arms, face and ribs in particular got a little thin.
Never mind - I then put on 12kg by 23 weeks! My midwife actually advised me to cut back on dairy and some other things, cos I was putting on weight quite rapidly (although I am 5'9"). So I have been eating more sensibly and my weight gain has slowed down to a very reasonable 1kg every 2 weeks or so :)
-
I'm 5'9 also. Was 97kgs before falling pregnant, then i was 92kgs at my 6 week appt.
I have weighed myself since, i wont be weighed until my first antenatal appt on the 25th. But i reckon ive lost another couple of kilos. I have had the worst morning sickness, i occasionally still get it. The past week i haven't been able to keep much done. Id like to aim to not gain more than 100kgs but wont stress if i do.
-
if you were weighing 92kgs at 6 weeks, it should be safe to say you will reach 100kgs or close to.
As long as you are eating healthy and good sized meals i wouldnt worry about the scales.
-
I wouldn't worry about weight gain or loss. As long as the baby is healthy that is all that matters. Have you been to your OB or MW recently?
I only ever showed out front and of course the boobs  From behind I didn't look pregnant and then I would turn around and people would do a double take and say "oh, you're pregnant!" and that was right up till I gave birth.
Everyone 'carries' differently, do get checked out though if you are worried
-
With DD i put on 20kgs and lost it by the time she was 4 weeks old. With DS i lost wieght up until about 25weeks then put on 6kgs for the rest of the pregnancy. Every ones different and as long as the baby is growing nicely thats all that matters
-
with DD i weighed 57kgs (164cm tall) and when i went into labour (yes, the weighed me :o) i was 71kgs. so like 14kgs. this time around i seem to be alot slower at weight gain, but i have pretty bad m/s ATM so that's prolly it...
-
I might ask my MW. I just dont have much of an appetite so i eat when i know i should. When im upset i usually comfort eat and today when i was really upset i wanted to clean instead!
While i dont want to gain 30kgs i want to make sure that my body is doing the right thing and bubba is growing properly.

I was 105.5 before falling preg i'm 5"7, and at almost 28 weeks i am now 112.5. a couple of weeks ago i got up to 116 but then started getting very violent reactions to greasy fatty food. I have since had my gall bladder checked and got the all clear but have made an effort to cook nutricious weight watchers meals for the past 2 weeks with no take away and both DH and i have lost a few kilos.. i am very happy cos if i had gotten up to 120 i wouldn't have been able to go to my hospital of choice. As someone who was only a size 10-12 2 years ago and put on 35 kilos in that short period of time, i was massively stressed. As long as you are eating healthy you will be fine even if you get up around 100kg.
-
A lot of people find that because they are looking after themselves more, eating better doing more exercise, they tend to lose excess weight. If you are normally above average or overweight, what you're experiencing is fairly normal I think. A friend of mine ended up lighter than when she got pregnant!
-
I was very similar, only put on 6kg with my pregnancy and lost a lot of my appetite...however after bub my appetite increased threefold and I put on 5+kg in the month following. However it's slowly starting to go back down again, fingers crossed I've got a wedding to go to in August :o
-
I put on no weight until U was over 20 weeks pregnant with the twins...and trust me I had a massive bump so it was all coming off elsewhere! I asked my ob about it and he basically said babies will taje what they need from you, and not to worry they were developing fine.
BY the end of the pregnancy I had put on about 20kg:o so I didn't worry any more. As long as you are eating to hunger and drinking to thirst then you will be giving your body what it needs.

Hiya - thought I would "weigh" in on this debate  Sorry, I am in a silly mood. Seriously now...................before I fell pregnant I was 58kg and 162cm. I lost a couple of kilos in the first 12 weeks and was back to about 56kg. I stayed this weight mostly until my 20 week appointment and I was 60kg. So I had put on 4kg in the month since my last Ob appt. It was over xmas though so I wasn't too worried. Then at my next appt after that I had put on another 3kg! So that was 7kg in 8 weeks. I have another appt tomorrow and I weighed myself last night and I think I have put on another 3kg, but that's in 3 weeks. So seriously that is 10kg in 11 weeks. I weigh 66kg - the heaviest I have ever been in my entire life. OMG :o And I am only 28/29 weeks so still a fair while to go which means alot of weight opportunity OMG AGAIN :o :o
So to respond to your question, I wouldn't be too worried unless your midwife or Dr mentions something. It is still early days yet and hopefully for you, you are one of those lucky ones that only puts on a little bit.
-
Haha you made me laugh.
*sigh* i remember the days when i weighed 66kgs but then i am tall so i was rather skinny at that weight.
I will mention it to my MW but i think im doing ok, i have moments where i eat quite a bit and others not so much, In a way its good it will teach me to eat smaller portions after the baby is born. And hopefully i can get back to my original weight of 66kgs.
