My DS (now 2 & 5mths) is in his own little bed, but perpetually kicks off the covers during the night. It's been fine in Summer, but now the nights are getting cooler, he's waking up from cold and coming in to snuggle me earlier and earlier.
DH has suggested a sleeping bag, but I don't know how he'd walk down the hallway in one of those?!
Any suggestions would be great.
A friend of mine has had both her girls in sleeping bags from day one. Her girls are no 3 & 5, and they STILL have it on to sleep at night! So I guess it must work for some.
You can get the sleeping suits so they can get up and walk around once they wake up but still be warm. I know target had them at least up to size 6 same with best and less.
Jazz won't wear blankets, and she hates the sleeping bags, BUT there are HEAPS of sleep suits out there for toddlers up to 4 I think! Even Bonds have brought out wondersuits in 2's (or have they always been there and I jsut never noticed??).
We just bought some yesterday actually, full sleep suits with feet, size 2, which will be nice come winter. When the weather really warms down we might also put something on underneath, like a soft singlet and some loose leggings or something like that.
They also have those 'floor grippers' on the feet so stop them sliding, although I don't know how well they work yet.
ETA: Yep Minny, there are 'licensed' ones on special today :doh: $15 down from $24. We got a Dora one and a Thomas one for $19 each, not sure why hahaha I guess at least we got a bit of a saving!
Target has big all in one suits with feet on special for bigger kids. Called Sleep suits or something look warm.
We have issue that DS1 pulls sleeping bag off as well as PJ pants so will probably try one of the target suits

My DS (17 months) has a sleeping bag and he walks out of his room when he's awake. He has only fallen over once.
Yep - go the sleeping bags!! My toddler is still wearing a size 2 one as he simply cannot (no matter how well I tuck him in) keep the rugs on, and always wakes up cold when the temperature drops later on. I have tried teaching him to pull up the rugs up but he just doesn't get it yet. We have an assortment of winter and summer sleeping bags and sleepysuits.
Another great thing about sleeping bags - they are a pain in the a** for them to stand up in, so DS will just lie down and go to sleep instead! He is in a cot still though....
So yeah - DS doesn't wear the sleeping bag around the house - only to bed. I guess they could fall on their face if they choose to get up in the middle of the night though.....
mmmm. Better to get a warm sleepysuit if in a regular bed. I have found it hard to get them in a size 1+ though.....
in winter when warm PJs just aren't enough, layering is good.
Snugtime sleep suit from Myers are THE best. They are lined in cotton and go right up in the sizes.
Yep - the snugtimes ones are the best and a lot cheaper than the grobag ones. They have ones with legs and ones that are just bags. Snugtime/Big Softies have 2 sales a year at their factory in Melbourne which I go to and stock up on the sizes we will be needing next!
Yep agree with Kim, I love the Snugtime ones. Have a Target one too and they are good just don't seem to last as long as the Snugtime.
They can also wear things under the Sleep Suit too for the extra cold nights, as in lighter Pj's underneath as well as the Sleep Suit.
