Hello!
Hello everybody!
I'm new here, so haven't read much yet...
I'm a single mum of boy called David who'll turn 11 years old in May.
He was born at 27 weeks weighing 1032 g.
He has had many challenges in his life already and the reason I came here is to understand better which of his problems could be due to his prematurity and which to his life (we lived with his dad until David was almost 3 and it wans't a happy time. I got physically and mentally abused and David saw it all. This has obviously messed him up and we have been on and off therapie for the lats 8 years.).
David has done well in terms of his height and weigh. He had to have speach therapie for a couple of years (we started when he was 3 and a half as he didn't talk at all). He did basically everything a bit later than babies born at term, but I undertsand that this is normal for a preemie.
The problems he has are:
- some antisocial behaviour
- does not accept authority
- wets his bed (even though he was completely dry for years...)
- refuses to take responsibilty in some cases (wants to be treated like a baby)
I would be interested to talk to people who have preemies that are now pre-teen or teens and to hear the problems they encounter.
Thank you for having taken the time to read this!
(I probably forgot half of what I wanted to say, so I might add some more info later...)
