I'm not much of a wine drinker and on my cruise we drank a white wine which was semillon savignaun blanc, which i considered to be sweet.
I want a sweet red wine. So which do you recommend??
TIA

I love wine but find reds a bit too strong for my taste so I've been drinking rose most of the time. I quite like Banrock Station white shiraz (it's a rose), but my favourite is the rose a friend of mine makes in her Adelaide Hills boutique winery, it's a blend.
I would probably try a straight Merlot, the older the better as the flavour mellows with age and becomes softer.
I'm not a red wine lover but I'll drink Merlot and Shiraz.
Rose is one of my favourites.
Lambrusco is quite a sweet red wine, I drink that quite a bit in summer. It's not that 'classy' though lol.
Brown Brothers make a really nice sweet red wine but I can't for the life of me remember the name of it atm...CIENNA! It's a little bit bubbly and you drink it chilled, it's quite delish.
yumm cienna!!!!
love it!!!
now I want one!!!!
:D TD, if you're not averse to drinking $6 a bottle wine, try McWilliam's Inheritance Fruitwood Red. It's sooo sweet and yummy, you drink it chilled (which I love, I can't stand room-temperature wine, bleugh!), and I can sink an entire bottle of the stuff and not get up the next day hungover! The lady at the bottle-shop recommended it to me on New Year's Eve because I don't drink often and I like really sweet, sickly wines :) It was a good price so I gave it a go and I'm stoked with it, there's half a bottle in my fridge right now ;)
i shall try both. Thanks ladies!
Additional to the Cienna is Brown Brothers' (or just about anyone else's) Dolcetto and Syrah. It's quite sweet, (my dad and I call it lolly water) lightly fizzy, and goes incredibly well with asian food.
I would then graduate from one of them to a merlot.
Ohhhhh..... for a red wine. I'll just sniff the cork and be happy.
