Help, not sure if my fridge is broken!?

Everything in my fridge and freezer seems to be warm. Freezer especially :doh: I'm thinking this problem may have begun a few days ago because surely it would have taken some time for everything to defrost in there? :o I was at work the last two days and just haven't realised.

My minds just not working right now and i don't know what to do. Our fridge is about 5 years old and it's a westinghouse. Fridge bottom and freezer top. The power is on, the light turns on when you open it. I can hear a noise of a fan or something that stops when i turn the power point off. The only thing i'm thinking is i can hear a fan and it's not related to the motor? Do i call someone to come out and look at it?

I'm about to get the boys in bed and empty it all, transfer what i can to the outside fridge and throw everything else out!?!

This is really not what i needed right now but it's the way it goes isn't it!?!?

If you have any suggestions they will be appreciated, not matter how big or small.

That happened to my fridge too. I had to buy a new one.

is it possible that someone could have knocked the temperature settings? Maybe when cleaning or grabbing something, or possibly excited little hands wanting to know what these buttons or dials do? Not sure how accessible it is, but always worth a look in... I'm all about simple solutions! =)

ouch! Although I wish it would happen to mine - I could do with a new one! ;)

The first thing i did was look at the temerature settings, they do get knocked by things sometimes but i dont' think it's that this time.

Whatever it is, it's effecting both fridge & freezer :o

Maybe i'll get on the phone and call a few service guys...

Sounds like the compressor has gone. I called a company called fridge works who came out within the hour and the bill was not to bad, cheaper than a new one.

I've given it a good clean out and there's definately a fan noise still and i can feel air coming out of the vents in the freezer but it's not cold air.

I called a guy and he was going to come out today but because i don't have any cash on me (and the boys were asleep so i can't go get any) he didn't want to come. Booked it for tomorrow morning instead. We have an old fridge in the garage so i've moved what i can out to that.

Well the guy came out this morning and the whole thing has died and we need a new fridge!! :rolleyes: We are about to renovate our kitchen but we weren't planning on getting a new fridge and this is going to throw the budget quiet a ways off. Not much we can do about it though....

Bugger! You could get a second hand, or factory second one. Might help with the budget :)
