soap
Hi ladies
I have noticed that when I am pregnant, I become more sensitive to soap, espically 'down there'. is this normal? I remember with my first pregnancy, after showering, feeling very stingy and sore down there even though I washed all the soap away thoroughly.
It happened again tonight after I had a shower, even though I make sure to wash away any excess soap that could have come in contact with that area. I told one of my friends and she said something like 'my mum always told me to never use normal soap down there!'... well, I've never heard of that before lol so maybe I've been doing the wrong thing by using soap, but I only ever have problems when I'm pregnant, so I never really thought about it as bad to do before. mum told me tonight that I should just use natural soap instead of the cheap stuff with chemicals etc. dont know if it'll make a difference though.
so basically, I wanna know is this normal? am I normal LOL? what else should I use? and what should I do now to get rid of the stinging/burning? it hurts :( I tried using some more water to wash it again incase I didnt wash all the soap away the first time, but that just made it sting even more. I wanted to cry :(
thanx in advance.

My dr told me I should never use soap down there and I especially had problems when I was pregnant. Dr said I should just wash with water but I am not comfortable doing this. I use a goat's milk soap for my DD2's eczema which is completely natural with no extra chemicals and I find this much gentler on the skin down there. Also, I don't ever use normal soap on my skin as it is just too drying.

There are plenty of soap free alternatives on the marketfor people with sensitive skin and allergies, maybe you should give one of them a go. The goats milk wash sounds soothing... Anyting milky is generally used to sooth.
Gl with it all

I stoped using anything with soap in it years ago, because both DH & i find them to be really drying.
But if you are feeling particularly sensitive the goats milk that the others suggested is a good alternative.

Yes totally normal.
I use a "feminine intimate wash" down there when I'm pregnant (eg Femfresh, can get it at the supermarket) and for the rest of me I use soap free body wash for sensitive skins (eg from the pharmacy).
Can take a bit of experimenting to get the one that is right for you but I find that pretty much all supermarket shower gels are too drying so I have been going for Hamilton, Aveeno type of products. However, I recently discovered Palmer's Cocoa Butter wash which feels good on my skin.
The creamy consistency rather than the gel consistency seems to work better for my pregnant skin.

I too have been using a "feminine intimate wash" (i think it is sebamed brand, from the pharmacy), much nicer and "softer" - recommended to help also if prone to UTIs or thrush.

I don't use soap down there either. I think it's what Mum said too :)
You can get a soap free wash from the chemist though if you'd like to try something like that while you are pg.
