Thrush treatment in 1st trimester - don't want to lose another baby....
Hi,
I am tentatively pregnant (10DPO) after trying for so very long after we lost our little one last year... It's been such a hard road!
My GP has had me on Nilstat oral tablets and vaginal cream for recurrent thrush over the past week (we've been thinking this may have been hindering the conception process). However, now I'm (hopefully, so very hopefully) pregnant again, I'm not wanting to risk loosing another baby because of a drug... The thrush is not causing me major discomfort, it's just always there (and in my gut I suppose - hence the tablets)
I'm not a drug person and avoid as many toxins as I can in pregnancy (didn't even take panadol!), especially in the 1st trimester. However, I phoned the Mother Safe hotline (for preg & BF mums) and they said Nilstat was fine - but she also said it was fine to take Diflucan! (which doesn't sit at ALL well with me!), so maybe not the best person to get advice from.
Does anyone have any advice, because I'm feeling a bit confused...?
Re: Thrush treatment in 1st trimester - don't want to loose another baby....
There was a thread not too long ago, I think in the natural therapies section, about using a clove of garlic to treat thrush. It has worked really well for me, as I am allergic to the creams and they aggregate it  I THINK it would be safe to use during pregnancy, but still check first. Maybe post a new thread here asking and I might catch the eye of others that do it. Like everyone else has said in relation to creams etc, I would just not put it too high up. Remember though, even if it is not that uncomfortable for you, if you are dtd hubby can also get it (usually without the symptoms, but sometimes with) and keep passing it back and forth to you every subsequent time you dtd.
Hope that helps :D
