I had my c-section 4 wks ago and above my scar on one side in a patch of like 2cm it is numb then goes really sensitive. I know my doctor said that can happen when nerve endings get cut. but did anyone have this and it got better over time and if so how long did it take???

I had my c-section almost 14 months ago, and I am still slightly numb just above my scar. It has gotten much better over time, but there is still a small numb patch.
Not sure about it going really sensitive though, never had that.

I think you will find that eventually it is just numb, I reckon the sensitive part is like refered pain, perhaps when someone loses a limb etc. (it still feels like it is there,like you say where the nerve endings are cut) my scar is permently numb and has an overhang, just where the cut is ...fine either side..The joys of a CS???
I have had 3 c-sections and can tell you that the numbness may be permanent, even the sensitivity, I dont have pain but a different kind of sensation near the numb area. I also dont feel when I have a full bladder anymore and fear this may be permanent and has only occurred since my third section. You will get used to the numbness, it may get a little better but more than likely it will remain numb indefinately. Its very normal but if you are concerned, see your gp.

but eventually you may find that you dont really notice it.
And the overhang gets worse with each c-section. I didnt really notice it with my first, then the 2nd one was a little more prominent, and the 3rd one is very noticable. I think its because the muscles that they cut thru loose the ability to work as well as they used to...so goodbye muscle tone, hello flab.
When you think about a c-section, it is MAJOR surgery!
I have numbness still and am 20 weeks pregnant atm! My OBGYN and I joke about giving me a free tummy tuck! My 'hang' is not that bad. I did Step into Life for a few months last year and found it did wonders for helping build / strengthen those core muscles although doing sit ups was still darn impossible!
After my first c-section, when I fell preggas again the 2nd and 3rd time, i found I had more ouchies around the op site....nothing too painful but just noticable. I also have noticed after each one, the occaisional zapping feeling like a nerve ending suddenly sprung to life again.
I don't think it is just c-sections scars either. I have a scar on my palm from a nasty dog bite that is now about 5yrs old and it is still numb around the site!

Ive had 2 c-sections.... I noticed after the first that about 2cm above and below the 'cut' was num, as in I couldn't feel a thing.... 4 years and 1 more c section later it's still is num.... im guessing it will stay that way. It feels weird, I dont like it at all but I'm pretty sure thats they way its going to be from now on. Just one more reminder of my c-section births.... as if I needed another.:rolleyes:
I don't think its anything to worry about, I'm pretty sure its standard with a lot of c-sections.

Yep, I still am a bit numb, 18 months later, but someone told me that touching, massage etc can help, I truly think it did, every night as I lay in bed before going to sleep I would rub my scar and under and around it, it REALLY hurt sometimes, but alot of feeling has come back.
I also found that for me this would bring up my emotions surrounding my birth experience (which I wasnt very happy about) I guess in a way it allowed me to face it and grieve it and come to terms with it slowly.
I had the not knowing my bladder was full thing too, after only one c/s, its not as bad as it was but Im sure Its not like it used to be.
Over three years ago and its still numb. and will always be.
i think you'll find that you'll have a slight numbness just above the scar indefinately as everyone has said. And as you c-s was only 4 weeks ago, it should still feel a bit sensitive for the next couple of months at least.
Ive had 3 c-s. I didnt notice the numbness too much with the first, but after the 2nd (9yrs ago) noticed it a bit more...thankfully it didnt get worse with the 3rd (4yrs ago), stayed pretty much the same and is still slightly numb.
