I have fallen in LOVE with a british short hair kitten and am considering getting it :)
does anyone have any experience with the breed and can tell me anything about them? i have googled them of course, and they sound like they're great with kids and their temperament sounds like exactly what i'm after but was looking for some personal experiences as i've never met one in person. TIA
a friends mum had a breeding pair, the male was absolutely GORGEOUS!!! he's was soo sweet and friendly and cuddley.
the female however was an absolute cow of a thing, refused to go near anyone, but she was a great mum.
i guess like any animal its lucky of the draw.
FWIW the male was a black self and the female was a chocolate seal point
My MIL is the British short hair queen lol. We adopted one of them, she's a three year old with a gorgeous blue coat with cream streaks on her. I have had lots of cats and I can safely say British kitties are awesome!!! Omg, their temperment is so loving and soft. They are better as indoor only cats though, their personalities are just more suited, plus their coats can get a bit tatty etc. They are playful too, and also very happy to curl up on your lap for hours. Beautiful cats really...can you tell I love them lol? Anything else you'd like to know?

We have a girl and she is lovely Ginger...just depends on the cat and how it was raised, it's personality etc :D

Lol I just told df that you want a silver tabby, he jumped out of his skin! They are his favourite types. That's what we'll be getting next, they're GORGEOUS! omg get the kittie, she sounds fantastic.
Are you buying from a breeder? If so, which one? Df is interested to know :D

the breeder is called trubador. does your df know of any good breeders in melb that he would recommend?
Obayna is a breeder that is very good...ours is from there and she bred the whiskas cat too :) (who is a British silver tabby) But tbh if you've found a kittie that you already love, just go with that one :D If you're already feeling a bond that's the most important thing.

Ginge, my advice re cat choosing is to chose based on their personality, rather than colour etc. You can get a feel for them by watching the litter interact. You don't want one that's bossy or dominant, or hyperactive, nor one that's too shy. One that sits in their own space but communicates with you is the one to get, kwim?
Other thing I would say as an owner of a lovely and very sociable cat, is you need to train them when they're young...people tend to think cats don't need training but they need to be told (using hte same body language the mummy cat would) when they're outta line.
BTW I wouldn't ever choose a male cat just because sometimes the spraying can get out of hand.
Now Oobi just needs to bring out a line of kitten accessories....
