Our Childcare Centre Has Burnt Down!

We only got home last night from 2 weeks away and this morning our neighbour who minded our chooks gave us the heads up that our childcare centre was gutted by fire by a suspected arsonist last night!!! :o :crying:

My head is swimming. The centre isn't part of a chain like ABC or council run so I really don't know what's going to happen. From the sounds of things the office was destroyed.

Fortunately I'm not working yet so we don't need to send our 3yo there... he just goes for the kinder classes and social interactions. Trying to see the brighter side of things we were going to have to pull him out soon as we are going to relocate to NSW as soon as DH can find a job up there.

But I am just so angry! :( This was such a wonderful place. How dare someone burn it down!!!! My son was on the waiting list for 2 years to get in... this is how wonderful the centre is. Having worked for a childcare centre in the past I'm so fussy and I know that there is nowhere even half as good as this place in our local area. Damn! my little man is going to be heart broken when he finds out! We haven't told him yet. Should we??? He has been attending 4 days a week since January and has been keen to return this Tuesday. What am I going to say??? And all his little friends... will he see them again?

Also, the arsonist was thought to have lit a second fire in the same area a few hours afterwards. A suspicious man in his 40s was seen leaving that place. It was just so lucky no one was killed. The childcare centre had a few small animals inside... fish, reptiles and stick insects though... lucky they didn't have the baby chicks still on the premises (we have 3 of them at home).

Devastated...

That is awful. Why do people do stuff like that!! Grrrr makes me so angry. Hope they fins the crook that did it and they can get up and running again soon

Ohh that's terrible what do people get out of destroying places and things!!!!!

I hope they can organise another centre in the mean time.

Thanks girls... but I'm having so many sad thoughts hit me... my son's portfolio of work which I was meant to collect last week (but we were away) has been lost :( I never saw it.

The poor kids will be so upset and those families who rely on daycare so they can work, it's such a shame.

WHAT?! How on earth could someone do that? How terrible for your community! I'm so sorry to hear that Bath.

Just read this thread and thought "Geez, who would do that?", then went away to read the news report about it... Now I'm even more ticked off. That's near my nan's house. :protest:

At least one of my family members has sent their kids there - they may still do, I'm not sure. Oooh, I hope they get the mongrels (or the single mongrel) that did this. Don't they realise how many precious memories they've just destroyed for the kids and their parents? :wall: Oh, I'm so mad right now it's not funny...

That is so sad, I hope they catch whomever did this.

That is just terrible for everyone, the parents, the kids and the staff :( I hope that they are able to find something temporary so that the children can continue on while it is decided on what will happen, whether they will rebuild etc.
