Nappy rash and MCN
Help!!!!
We have started to use MCN's full time (had a week break after ds got a nasty case of gastro) and i cant seem to get on top of the nappy rash. He has had MCN on his bum for two days now since his poo finally settled after the gastro and already he has a red bum. I change the nappies every two to three hours as they are still new and im wary of them not leaking so they get changed often. Not sure what im doing wrong. He hardly ever has a red bum from disposables.
I was thinking of getting some cream for his bum but not sure what is best for MCN and also what is easy to get. Thinking this might work as a bit of a barrier which might help.
Any advice would be appreciated

Pawpaw cream - the black (nutraceuticals), or orange tubes are OK - not the red one
If its really bad you could get a hardcore zinc cream like daktozin and use a raw silk liner?
Which MCNs are you using, and what fabric is against bubs bum?

MooGoo is a favourite among the nappy girls - it is okay to be used with MCNs as it will not cause any damage, I just use Sudocream with liners but if you want to use it as a permanent barrier you probably want to invest in Moogoo or whar Pandora has suggested :)

Hun which MCN are you using? Are they lined with suedecloth or microfleece?
Your little one might have an aversion to synthetics.

Nappy-free time is also a good remedy. If it won't be going away for a while, it may be worth getting dakortan (sp?) which is anti-fungal - the pharmacist will be able to assist.
Moogoo works as it's water-based, so leaves no residue. Try the soothing cream, it has good stuff in it.

could it possibly be the washing powder you used, i know my daughter got a really bad botton when i changed powders.
And lots of nuddie time is the best thing i think!

Thanks for the advice everyone.
Its not a bad rash, just a bit of redness around his bum which clears after a night in a sposie and sudocreme. Im not sure what our nappies are made of but we mainly use the baby beehinds multifits. We also use a flushable liner which is a bambino mio brand one. Again not sure of what it is made of.
Might need to get my hands on some moo goo. Iv never seen it in the sops though, any idea where i can locate some?

ah ha! That could be it hun, the multi fits are lined with suede cloth, lots of bubs have a reaction to it.

Another trick I use is to rub in some good cream, I use Hydrozole if it gets bad or sudocream if it is mild and then use a barrier type cream such as Mustela Vitamin cream on top. That way that gets rubbed off more by the nappy and leaves the good stuff to do its job.

Ashton can't use suedecloth, he gets a red bum too :(
I love bottom balm, google it, get it from natures child. It's wonderful and lasts FOREVER!! Can you try using a nappy with a natural inner? BBH fitteds or something similar.
