IBS During Pregnancy?
Just wondering if anyone has had IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) whilst pregnant & how it effected you? How did you deal with it...
I used to get it before being pregnant but not a lot and this morning i have the symptoms & im just wondering how it will be effecting bubs? Should i call my doctor?

I had it since I was 20 - and had it during my pregnancy with DS.
I took inner health tablets (IBS support) which really helped. My OB never mentioned anything in particular about it to me in regards to the baby's health though?
Oh - and FWIW - my IBS disappeared after I had DS. 3 years on and I still don't have it :D

Thats awesome you dont have it now Camme!! I used to get it A LOT! Then it disappeared for months but this is the first time ive had it this pregnancy & the crampy feeling is awful!
-
Yeah it is - I used to have to visit the toilet up to 12 times a day - it was horrible.
I'm not perfectly normal, I still probably go about 3 - 4 times a day, but its nothing compared to what it was, and no cramping at all now.
Definitely try the inner health tabs though, they really helped me.

Thanks for that! Will definately give them a go!

I had it diagnosed in my early 20's. When i was pg with ds i found all my syptoms dissappeared and didnt return until he was nearly 1. I remember my Ob telling me it was common for it to clear up while pregnant. Unfortunatly though this time nothing has changed. I'm 14 weeks and still having frequent episodes :(. My Dr isnt concerned but like Mel, i have have to resort back to inner health plus tablets too and i have found they have helped a little. Its horrible isnt it?

The worst!! Im just so glad i didnt get it early on in my pregnancy, i would have FREAKED OUT!

I have IBS and even though I only make it to nearly 8 weeks, there was a huge improvement nearly right away. Most things pass right through me (sorry) but while pregnant it stopped, so the constipation thing worked quite well for me.
Can't imagine how bad it would be if you were normally constipated tho... And I don't have it very bad either, and the IBS support tablets usually fix it, when I bother to take them.

Mine is currently worse during this pregnancy. I'm still after all these years trying to figure out what my triggers are, but I know hormones definitely play a role. I've had a particularly bad episode tonight so I feel dreadful. It completely cleans me out and the cramping is so awful. It does make me worry about little bubs in there.
