Flying after egg transfer??? Anyone know if it's okay?
Hi everyone,
I'm on my first IVF cycle (well sort of... currently on Synarel and counting down 28 days from when I was re-immunised for Rubella before I can start properly).
At this stage the clinic is saying I will be due for egg pickup the week of the 10th of May. As this means it could be as late as the 14th of May and then if they grow an embie to 5 days it could be the 19th May for transfer (I'm guessing)... I am looking at taking my daughter and I on a holiday to Queensland to help pass some of the 2 week wait time so was planning for the 22nd to 28th of May (I'm then working on the weekend of the 29th and 30th).
Anyway I was wondering if anyone knows if it is okay to fly that soon after embryo transfer? Of course it could be that I don't even end up with any embies transfered or they might be transfered earlier etc. I will ring the clinic and discuss it with them tomorrow but just wondered if anyone else knows anything about flying so soon after the process?
It's a great time for me to go as I'm entitled to 2 days time in leui that week so would only have to take a half day as annual leave, the airfares are cheap (since it's not school holidays or peak tourist time), and my parents have a holiday apartment up there that I have never been to but they have said I could stay there free then as it isn't peak tourist time.
I know how hard the 2ww's are (have had 3 of them with donor insemination) so thought getting away would be a good way to distract myself from over analysing every twinge etc.
Also wondered if anyone knows how long after embryo transfer would your period be due if you didn't get pregnant? If I had egg pick up on the 10th of May when would my period be due?
Thanks everyone
Lori
