OMG I just realised it was April Fools day and there were no tricks played here, unless you count me not taking the call from the "Healing chiropractor" and not turning up for my appointment. I was going to cancel but ran out of time so they called twice this morning and I didn't answer the phone. What a woose I am!LOL

The news on jemmas finger is all good, they xrayed it again, and inspected her hand, although she was very unco-operative, screaming and kicking and crying the whole time and they didn't even touch her, She has full usage and the broken part won't effect her fingers growth ads it is broken at the top and the bone grows from the bottom. So no operatiion but she will always have a crooked finger.

We had to wait an hr for the appt and then 20 mins at xray, so it took heaps longer than last time (I was in and out in 20mins last time we went).

I managed to get to broadmeadows shopping centre and had both girls photos taken, Jessica was so good, Jemma's photos will be gorgeous but she was difficult to get smiling. It is definetly easier to get them laughing at 6mths than at 2.

Today I had a gf visit who I havent seen for about 3 yrs and she had her dd with her 3mths old. She is just gorgeous. It is so nice to catch up with old friends, now we just have to keep in touch.

I was on last night just bf everything went down and posted a message but it didn't work, and now I have forgotton what i said. I know I said "WOOHOO!" to Lani's tooth and I also agreed with you Michelle about the whole HC nurse thing, I have had 1 terrific one in 10 yrs and she left, the others are ok but it's ok for me I trust myself and don't listen too much to them, but first time mums with little outside support can feel all mixed up I think due to the HC nurses sometimes.

Anyway gotta go and see what I have missed. Did Kayla have her bub? Sounds like it is a soapie! LOL

Hi Girls,

Went to the dr yesterday and it sounds like mycoplasma which has turned into asthma. Had more blood taken which will be back next Friday. I just have to keep up the ventolin and preventer until I stop caughing/making chest sounds when breathing. Wow it has been nearly 6 weeks.

Amelia cut her second tooth on Wednesday. She is so much easier with her teething than ds. With him we were up all night. She is slowly inching her way forward( her version of crawling, not officially comando) She rolls everywhere and is now making a new clicking sound with her tongue. Thinks she is smart. She also says mum, bub and now dad. Although she is not as mobil as some of the other babies in here. I'm not worried though as I know where she is atm.

Poor Jemma. She must be a brave little girl. How is the toileting going Michelle?

No other personals cause I can't remember what was in March.

great news michelle on jemma's finger, i bet you are relieved. great you got the girls photos taken to, i hate getting photo's of the kids taken to often cause i am a wuss at trying to choose just a few and really don't have the dollars to buy the whole package.

rose - wow you certainly are in the wars, great amelia is doing better than ds with teething we are the other way round here atm, hopefully with lani cutting this first one things will be easier next time - it looks like she has another 2 or 3 on the go from what i can see.

felt so good tonight, i love it when you can do something for bubs when they are obviously distressed - lani was screaming in pain and i noticed her little tummy was rock hard - she is not constipated as such but has a few problems in the area getting a decent one out, i was going to go the brown sugar and water - but have decided the last few days to just give her heaps of applies, pears etc, anyway she was so distressed i gently gave her tummy a massage then she did a little poo so i cleaned her up and noticed she needed to do more and was struggling so i gently lifted her legs up and moved them to the side and lo and behold explosion followed (sorry tmi lol) lucky i was prepared, i tell you what you would have thought she was a different baby, i felt so good i could help her =D>
she is one weird chick-a-dee, no runny poo's for her when teething quite the opposite really lol.

hope all are well, i am cruising the forums tonight with the footy on in the background.

have a good weekend all - i am planning on doing even more scrapbooking lol.

Hi Mooshie,
Yey for Lani and her poo. I know about the teething with ds. It's so hard when they are upset and in pain. We used nurofen, panadol, bruer teething relief and all the gels. He used to get sick and get croup every time he teethed. I am so pleased dd is different (atm). I do sympathize with the hard teethers.

As for poos. dd gets constipated at times, cant have banana atm due to this. mchn said to stew up some prunes and give her 2 tsp of the liquide in cereal/solids. It is gentle but very effective. I have some on hand now for this very reason. She is bf with solids. didn't think she would have any probs. oh well.

lani is breastfed and on 3 solid meals a day she also has a comp bottle at night before bed - she breastfeeds on average around 4 times a day (plus once or twice at night ](*,) ) this has become frustrating and the habit started at around 5mths when she was obviously hungry. i find it hard with the poo bit i guess she should really be going daily now she is on solids.

i will by some prunes tommorrow and use the juice in her cereal (have to taste better than boiled water lol)

just a quick post as I have gastro now and a screaming baby.

Amelia does not seem to notice any change of taste with the prune juice in cereal. If boiling the prunes, make sure the water covers them otherwise the prune will not stew enough. You get a darker concentrate with more water.

OMG Rose, not gastro on top of everything. Hope it is over soon. What is mycoplasma? Good to hear you are getting to the bottom of it. I have been crook now since OCt and still no real answers and it really ****s me!

It is funny how babies are differnet ie teething experiences. I hope Lani's get easier Michelle. And great that Lani feels so much better after that poo. I LOL at you being prepared, lucky hey!

I wish I could scrapbook, I have loads of ideas but too many kids around. At least the house is clean, except for what the kids pulled out, and cos it is school hols I am not stressing about the washing.

Well I haven't had a chance yet to pop in and say hi! Unfortunately I was really pushing my broadband limit this month (so only made a couple of quick post) and I started back at work.

Anyway, I can't believe Alana is 6 months. How time flies. Well she has done fantastic on her weight gain, 450g in two weeks. So she now weighs 6815g. She has her Paed app on Monday, so he will be thrilled at that. She got a few ulcers on her bottom which were hurting her terribly so she just finished a week of antibiotics. Unfortunately the antibiotics caused a little bit of thrush. ](*,) But its cleared up well.

Wow, you ladies are fast! So many posts, and it's only the 2nd of the month!

Nice to meet you, Iris. I don't think I've communicated with you before. Sorry to hear that Alana has had some thrush... I actually have oral thrush at the moment (due to some asthma inhalers I have to take) and it really sucks, so I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for a baby to have it. I remember that Daktozin was really good for Charlie's nappy thrush (if that's the kind she has). Hope it clears up soon.

Mitch - sorry to hear about Jemma's finger. I don't think I read the post about what happened... glad it seems to have turned out ok.

Rose - wow, you're not having much luck, are you?! Luckily Amelia must have known you were having a hard time and decided to cut her tooth quietly (unlike other bubs I know!). She sounds so gorgeous! I can't wait until Charlie can talk... I think it would be "easier" if they learned to talk first, then your house wouldn't get ruined so quickly! Hope your medication kicks in soon and you're back to normal in a jiffy!

mooshie - glad that the "number 2" situation turned out ok. Prunes are fabulous for this (and pears too)... Charlie has also been having some rockmelon lately, and this seems to aid digestion as well, for some reason. I also try to give him water when he's like this - when he was very little he had a lot of digestion problems, and would be up screaming through the night because of it, and we'd give him warm water in a bottle and give him a nice bath. Seemed to both relax him and help things along. Hope it's just a "phase"!

Charlie is doing well. I think another tooth might be on the way (his fifth) because he has been grizzly and tired all day. He also has been feeding really strangely (probably because of his teeth)... he's eating well, but not drinking from me so well. If it goes on for too long I might have to get it looked into. I know he's not hungry though, so that's the main thing. He's also still sleeping through, so it mustn't be annoying him too much. It's frustrating for me, though, because he'll hop on the breast, drink for only a few minutes and then pull away and look around at everything else! I'm not sure how to get him out of that, but I'll see how things go. He's being lots of fun otherwise though... he's gone back to sleeping well through the day again. I was worried that he had gone back to his old stubborn habits, but it just must have been a temporary thing - thank goodness!

Anyway, it's my turn to get up tomorrow (had a lovely sleep in today) so I should get into bed. Although DH has 1 1/2 weeks off as of Wednesday, so I'll be getting even more sleep ins! The last time he had a "holiday" was when Charlie was about 4 wks old, so it wasn't exactly relaxing! This time should be lovely, though.

Hi Lara- noticed you and Alana at the top of the page and couldn't believe she was 6 mths either. She is doing really well with her weight as Jessica is 7 mths today and only weighs 7.32kgs. When did you start work again and how many days are you working?

Well Jessica is in bed but the others are running around crazy. Arron reckons he's going to the footy club for awhile soon but he's not leaving unless they're all in bed i can tell you.

I would love to scrapbook but am just tootired. I was stuffed last night and in bed by 10pm. Arron cracked it as it was the 2nd Fri night in a row he had to put the kids to bed by himself. Tough luck is what I say. I just couldn't keep my eyes open any longer.

Nothing much planned for tomorrow. I thought about going to the home ideas show but Arron had a sook about not wanting to go there, so we will prob stay home and do nothing. I really should go and buy Jessica's chest of drawers and start painting it cos she needs it desperately, but we also need paint and I need to save money for when the photos are ready so I shouldn't really spend money I guess.

HI Kellee- we were posting at the same time.

Just to let you know what went on- Jemma fell off the dining chair which had a booster attached and broke the middle bone of the little finger on her left hand. Prob was we didn't realise it was broken until more then 2 weeks later and then they thought they needed to operate, but they left it and the last appt was to check it and see how it was going, and it is all good! A relief for us all as i felt a little guilty for not picking it up sooner, although I had her at the drs a week after it happened but he told me not to xray as it didn't look broken. So I waited another week. Next time I will not listen to the dr.

Hope Charlie's next tooth isn't too bad, Jessica had a mild temp today and I think it is another tooth. She has the two bottom ones so maybe the top are coming too. It is so strange to see her pulling herself up on things and standing, she is so little and it just doesn't look right.

just another lazy sunday arvo here - dh went to work now he is in the garage drinking and listening to the footy ](*,) oh well at least he is out of my hair lol.

lara - great news on alana's weight gain - she is steaming past lani lol. it's also fantastic news about her progress.

michelle - can't believe jessica is pulling up, it must look so cute her being little and all - wow looks like you will have an early walker, were the others early? my jessica was 16mths and jay was 12mths (he actually walked on his own on his first birthday party)

kelly - hope charlie cutting his tooth is easy for him - at least easier than lani. i am having same issues as you re eating food fine but feeding from me - nup to many distrations.

well as i said to kelly to many distractions for miss lani to eat - and i believe that is what is causing her waking through the night last night was 10.30pm then 3.30am and when she woke this morning at 7.30am not interested in boobie at all - was lucky if i got 5mins one side, so i seem to be putting her on heaps the last few days and she just sucks pulls off, grabs the nipple and goes cross eyed then charges in, then pulls off looks around yadda yadda yadda, i have had enough. she already has her formula for bedtime bottle at 7pm so as of tommorrow i am going to start weaning her - will start with the mid morning bottle, then 1 week later the mid arvo bottle then 1 week after the morning bottle. am also going to wake her again and give her rollovers of formula at around 11pm at night - so i am happy with my decision, i know the feeding issues happen alot through teething but by lani being on the bottle at least i will know how much etc etc and she won't be as reliant on me. i think i have done really well as considering the trouble we had at the start she was lucky not to come home from hospital on the bottle - at least i made my goal and fed her through summer, i already feel good about it and i can't wait to go out and buy some nice new bra's lol. i gather by the time she is 7mths old she will be fully weaned and will make the routine thing easier and also i will be able to get a bit tougher with this night waking as i will not have the worry as to what she has had during the day.

i got the highchair out today and washed it all up so lani is going to start eating in that should be fun - at least hopefully she will happily sit there and chew on a rusk or toy whilst we are eating dinner and her not cracking it.

anyway i am going to cruise the other forums then i may do more scrapbooking - am really getting back into it so happy .

Wow, mitch... you poor dudes! That must have been a scary experience for you all. Glad to hear that Jemma is doing ok now. Yes, doctors can be buggers sometimes. I think that we all need to learn to be more insistent -I know that I can tend to question my own judgement, but after all, WE know our bubs best, don't we? As long as everything is fine now - that's the main thing. It's also excellent to hear that Jessica is pulling herself up on things... it does look cute, doesn't it?! Charlie has been doing that for a while now, too... actually today he PUSHED himself up (ie. didn't have to actually hold on to anything - just balanced - it was on a wall with nothing to grip on to) and looked very proud of himself! What a clever chook. I'm scared about how my house will look when he starts to walk - he already holds on with only one hand and walks around furniture, so unfortunately I don't think it will be too long!

mooshie - I'm glad you've made some positive decisions RE feeding. I wish I could buy some nice bras too! It would be great if I could give the illusion (thanks to underwire bras) that my boobs weren't pointing south all the time... I reckon that if it will help you all sleep, then go for it. I hope that you have some success with it.

Had a lovely day today. Mum, Charlie and I went shopping all day. He was sooooo good - he only had a couple of mini sleeps in the pram, but he was so well behaved and generally very happy. Then we went to a local pub to visit a friend of mine who is out from the UK and he was a happy chappy then too. What a darling boy... and I was able to buy a new pair of jeans- a size 10! I haven't been able to wear that size since I was 17! I'm very excited.

Anyway, am exhausted from my big day, so I might go to bed. Hope you all have a lovely week.

Michelle I started work last Tuesday. I am only working Tuesday and Thursdays from 8:30 to 1pm. I only have my Mum that can look after Alana and she only has those days of. I didn't won't to work anymore than that anyway. Its been good. I now know how Frank feels when he gets home and is excited about seeing Alana.

Kellee well done on the sz 10, thats great for you and really makes you feel good when that happens.

Michelle- hope things work out with Lani and feeding. I can't hold Jessica for bottles anymore as she is totally distracted and doesn't drink, so I put her in the pram with her bottle in the day and in the cot at night for the last bottle, then she drinks them. And it looks straange to see our little bub standing up I can tell you. 2 of mine walked at 11 mths and one at 12 and a half mths. But Jemma looked like she would walk by 10mths, was walking around the furniture tat 8 months and then walked after her 1st bday so I'm not sure if it really works that way.

Lara- it is good for you to get out a couple of days a week too though and be a grownup, you definetly do miss your baby when you go though. And nice to be able to have your mum look after Alana. Hope the paed appt goes well. What are you doing at work, is it office?

Anyway, not much going on, kids on holidays so things are messy and I shouldn't be on here, I should be tidying up.

Lara, good luck with todays appointment.

Well Alana's Paed was thrilled with her. She now is sitting between the 25th and 50th percentile. So considering when we first saw him she was barely at the 10th, she is doing fantastic.

She has also been taken of one of her meds, Zantac. Due to thinking that the change of formula helped with her many poos, he said we can take her of zantac and sees how she goes. Hopefully it works because it taste awful and poor Alana gags everytime we give it to her (twice a day).

She has a little cold, but it has not affected her lungs. I feel a little bit stupid as I she has been breathing slightly heavier since Saturday, but didn't think it was a cold as she has been so happy and didn't seem bothered by it. When she had a cold a 6 weeks, she was coughing and was pretty miserable. So now I'm nervous about it. I've taken her temperature and its fine. I said to Frank that we won't give her a bath as I don't won't her to get cold and have wet hair. I hope I'm not overreacting.

So we don't have to go back for 2 months!WOOHOO! I hate going to the hospital. I said to Frank that when we walk into Monash Hospital and smell that hospital smell, I automatically get this nervous fluttery feeling in my stomach. My anxiety level sky rockets and it takes me hours after to calm down. But 2 months!!!!!!

Michelle I work in a very small office answering phones. Its not very challenging, but my boss is really care free and has been very understand of our situation.
