What size bottles for EBM for 2 nights away

Hi lovely ladies,

My dh and I are going away for a much needed weekend away (1st in three years with no kids) and my mum is looking after Charlotte and Aiden. Charlotte is boobie fed so I need to express for her and I am a little unsure what size bottles I should use and how many :redface: I know more the better as she is boobie monster!!!

Any ideas?? Oh I have a month to get organised

I am little nervous about my milk slowing while away- I will express at the regular times I would normally feed her - but how much should I do?? Ohh so anixous .... never been away for a whole night from both of my kids... and we are only just getting Charlotte sleeping longer at night and I worried that all that hard work will go out the window - ohhh sorry for rambling - its just very daunting for me but dh and need some time together as things are a little rocky - mainly due to sleep depravation

If it helps any - there's about 6 weeks between your DD and my DD2 - and she is on 200mls a feed every 3.5 hours during the day (she sleeps overnight).

On the formula tin it does say 5 feeds a day - and thats what she has? My DS was drinking around 240mls at this time though (fed every 4 hours and once overnight), and DD1 was probably around 80ml a time if that (she fed every 2 hours in day time and once overnight).

So it really depends on how often she is drinking I suppose?

Chepie, if you get her weight and multiply by 150 and then divide that result by how many feeds she has in 24 hours, that will give you a good idea of how much to leave for each feed.

Make up many smaller bottles - your DD probably has big feeds and little ones and so on. She needs 750ml-1litre a day, but it is probably easiest to freeze 80ml-ish lots, and then they can use 1 for a snack and 2 for a big feed.
If she's not used to bottled then you need to start trying her with them now - it can take them a little while to get the hang of it. She will probably take a bottle better for anyone other than you!
As for when you are away, even if your milk does slow down your DD will have it back and running with a couple of days of ore frequent feeding - don't worry about that! Expressing when you would feed her (or every second feed if she's a one-side-a-feed baby) will be fine - just express until things are dripping rather than squirting, and be careful not to make yourself sore.
