Ok so I've found a nice recipe (well I hope its nice) for this stupid eggplant, and its asking me to trim it? Like, how much do you trim off when they say trim it? And I thought you could eat the skin? And just to show my ignorance, I've never actually cut into one before so this SHOULD be interesting....
(oh and thanks for the recipes in my last thread bout eggplant, don't have some of the ingredients so had to search for a recipe that listed everything I had.. lol)

good luck with the eggplant...i got one in our vegie box last week thought about eating it got scared and feed it to the worm farm, let me know how you go??

but yeah i cant think of any other reason why they would say trim it either
i really do love eggplant,sometimes they are bitter so u need to put salt on them and leave them for 10 mins or so then wash off with cold water
Ah. Ok. Not really? LOL... its a zucchini and eggplant gratin so I wouldn't have thought the end bit would be in it anyway? So now I'm super confused.... lol:
Maybe I should just make the moroccan style eggplant, pumpkin and chick pea curry instead.. :think:
They mean trim off the top - the leaves, green bit ;)
ETA: Generally TRIM = remove any inedible parts, remove greenery or stalks
PEEL = remove skin

Ahhh that makes sense LS - thanks. I too would have thought it was a given to cut the top part off - I mean, you do with zucchini and it doesn't say to in the recipe? Strange. People that write these things are just out to confuse me.
Anyway - doesn't matter cos DH has decided he wants the moroccan one instead. So now I have to tackle that one.
hehehehe, "trim it " is just a fancy way of saying cut the top off it....
Either way, yes, you always remove the top lol
