Does metamucil go through to baby in breastmilk?

Just wondering if taking metamucil could be going through breastmilk and affecting a newborn's output. Not sure if they are just normal bub poos.

Your bub is only teeny so her poos will be very runny for a while, esp as she is BFed. I wouldn't worry about the metamucil....I needed a bit of extra ummm help:redface: in that department for a few weeks after DS was born and it didn't seem to bother him. I took Senokot tablets.

I thought it did, but don't know for sure. I haven't had to take it as much this time round, but I did alot more when DS1 was feeding. His poos were more orange colour on days after i'd take it and i'd also find when there were days when he hadn't pooped, if i took metamucil he would poo shortly after.

I learnt that berocca goes through to the milk though, but i didn't feed DS1 the following day (it was after a night out for my best friends hens night so i pumped and dumped- mainly for comfort), as the milk was a strange shade of orange. So if that goes through i couldn't see why metamucil wouldn't.

Will be interested to know the correct answer to this though.

i had metamucil for MONTHS after dd1 and didnt notice anything strange with her poos.

she has been harder 2 settle after a feed with greater need for burping, she is spitting up more and has more pooey nappies. is this normal 4 a 1 week old?

she is having around 3 pooey nappies a day and they will leak out the sides/top pretty quickly. is this pretty normal?

That's all pretty normal sounds like she's still getting used to your milk coming in. In regards to poo and bfed babies, they're all different but my DS used to have maybe 5 pooey nappies a day at that age and yes exploding everywhere! We went through lots of clothes :lol:
