Irritable Uterus
Hi all,
I had an antenatal appointment today, my BP is good, my weight has increased (which is a good thing!! i have been stressing about how much i HAVENT put on) and bubs is head down. I have been having tightenings like a cross between BH and Contrx, but neither of them.... and my midwife said that it is most likely an Irratable Uterus.
I had it with my last DS too, but not this bad OR this early. They suggested i went into hosp for monitering, but i feel like it will be a waste of time, as they get cranky with you for going in to sit there "wasting their time" etc. Should i ring them and see what they suggest?
My midwife friend says that they can put me in hosp for 2 days and give me some tablets to stop it, but i cant afford to spend 2 days in hosp, DH doesnt get sick days, and no one can watch my other children as my parents live 10 hours away and everyone else works... What would you do??

Hi, I can only comment on what I would do if I were in that situation and that would be to get checked out. Spending a few hours in hospital "for nothing" and being reassured is far better than sitting at home worried. Also spending a few days in hospital early on in the pregnancy preventing would could potentially turn into labour is far far far better than spending hours, days, weeks or even months in hospital by the side of your baby worrying over them. Irritable Uterus can cause pre-term labour if left... I don't mean to alarm anyone as again I can only comment based on my experiences.

Make sure you are drinking enough water, if not, this can cause irritable uterus.
