Hi All,
DD has been to childcare for about 4 weeks now (two days a week). Anyway, everytime i go pick her up she is always standing around with no friends. She isn't socialising with anyone.
When i stay there i try to introduce her to some little kids who comes up to talk to her and she's fine but she's always alone when im picking her up.
I can ask the teachers but they probably tell me she's fine!
How long did it take your kids to make friends? DD is 2.

It took Nina a couple of months to make friends. It took Emily about an hour lol. They're all different. Depends on their nature. Nina isn't the type to go up and just talk to anyone. She is really selective with her friends.
Your DD has only been there a short time, she'll still be finding her feet.
Children don't really start to socialise until they are 3 or sometimes 4. While they may play 'together' before this age, the play is what we call paralelle - so they will sit and play beside each other, but not interact with each others play.
There are always exceptions and some children may socialise earlier, some later.
Some children take longer to mix with others, she may be taking alot in while she is standing back watching on her own.
We had one 4 year old boy do exactly what your dd is doing, he took several months of attending to finally form friendships and now plays very confidently with others. He would stand alone alot - as much as we tried to get him to play with others, you can't force it and in the end it will usually happen naturally.
My DS is still a bit of a loner :rofl: He plays with his aunties, but they tend to gang up on each other as well. That said he engages in a lot of imaginative play at home chatting about his friends so he is definitely beginning to understand the concept of interaction.
I would ask the carers if she has any friends that she plays with. I make a point of talking to my DS about his daycare friends and it helps when I have to get him excited about going to daycare by mentioning his friends.
