10 months old - weaning??

Thought I'd just run this past to get some thoughts. I think Tristan is weaning. For the last month now we are down to two feeds a day, morning and night (first and last thing), and they are not even 5 mins total probably only 30 secs each side for one feed. He is not at all interested and would rather just eat his breakfast (he knows it comes after a feed) and at night he would rather just go to bed without it. I have tried feeding after solids, but then he just wants to play. When I say not interested, he pushes me away and bites if I do put it in his mouth lol. If he does attach he doesn't suck at all.

He is still happy and healthy, plenty of wet and dirty ect ect. So I am not at all concerned, just wanted thoughts :)

Do you think he might be weaning and if so should I maybe get some formula for him? I don't think he would take the formula though either. He's 10 months and was 7kg at 9 months. I see the CHN on Tuesday for weigh and measure.

Oh and no supply issue either, I have milk there he just doesn't want it lol.

Should add he is an excellent solids eater. He eats just about everything and large quantities too.

He's not weaning - he's too young for that. But he's a busy boy and doesn't have time to lie around breastfeeding all the time. To sum it up, he is being a normal 10 mnth old baby.
What were your breastfeeding goals? If you planned to breastfeed for 12 mnths or more then go right ahead. Follow his lead and enjoy the extra time you now have. You will find his desire to breastfeed ebbs and flows with his age and stage. But he's a big boy and he knows how the system works. If he wants more milk then he knows how to get it from the breast, As you can see, all his nutritional needs are being met by food and your milk, Formulas are aggressively advertised, but wholly unnecessary at this age

He isn't weaning. 10 month olds don't wean themselves.

What other fluids is he having? If he's having water I would be cutting that back and offering more breast. If he's not having anything else, then I would say he's getting plenty in the time he does suck if he's still having plenty of wet nappies.

Ashton was a speedy feeder, at a few months old he would finish a full feed in 5 minutes, by the time he was 10 months i think he would be on for 2 minutes max and off and going again. He's just really interested in whats going on around them. I also remember being worried as he cut back, but within a month or so he was back up to 4 or more feeds a day :)

Just go with it, don't force him but offer it. If he isn't interested don't stress :) If you want, you could express some for later :) When Ashy cut back I had oversupply, so would express a little when they got hard and at the end of the day put it all in one bottle and freeze it. Used it all up when he did wean at 14 months because of my being pregnant :(

I am just happy to have got passed 6 months given previous experiences and our own hurdles.

I do offer more breast but like I said before, he is not interested. He drinks plenty of water. He probably drinks 2 x 250ml over the day of water. I did try taking the water away and offering breast but again he is not interested. lol

It does sound normal and my DS was a really quick (effecient) feeder as well. I would be inclined to reduce the water and you might find he will want to feed more. Just see how you go.

It seems like a common thing at this age, they just get so busy! Just go with the flow, don't push it if he's not interested. He'll probably come back to it in a bit.
