Cooking oil ALL over clothes! HELP! Will anything get it out?

Our clever Moosh managed to get a bottle of cooking oil open (impressive huh! :doh:) and then poured it on the kitchen tiles... and then walked onto it, and fell over, got a shirt and her trackies covered in oil. I picked her up and then got oil all over my pjs.

So we washed them, hot wash. When we brought them in from the line they were STINKY! EWWW! So gross! So I soaked them in Napisan. That didn't help, still STINKY! We tried a detergent wash, because I thought that might dissolve the oil but NO, still stinky.

I was just going to bin them, because those were just cheap and I can't stand the smell. But now for some reason one of her sleep suits... one of her EXPENSIVE sleepsuits... stinks too. It must have got oil on it. Not sure how but maybe it found its way into a wash with one of them. Anyway, I don't want to throw it out! So I've got the lot stinking up the laundry, and I just want the oil OUT!

All items are cotton, or a cotton polyester I think (is it important? If its really important I'll check lol).
Oh and it was a sunflower oil.

What can I do??? Is there ANYTHING I can wash them in? Will anything dissolve it? Please, surely there has to be something?

The best suggestion I have is dishwashing liquid. Try hand scrubbing them with it, then putting them in the machine.
Worked when DD1 got motor oil all over her Billabong jumper.

I get cooking oil on me daily at work. I bought a bottle of degreaser from the laundry section of the supermarket which works really well on my work uniform. I think it's Napisan brand from memory, I'm too lazy to go into the laundry to look :redface:

What dishwashing liquid do you use? Try one of the concentrated ones. It might take a few washes but it will get it out I promise! Or what Tinks said. The only thing is often with oil stains you need to bring them back out again with more oil. Lucy (not Lulu ;)) started using oil spray and dishwashing liquid, my trick was WD40 and dishwashing liquid to get oily stains out. But the oil spray doesn't smell as bad as WD40 and works the same. you would literally need to drench the entire article in dishwashing liquid though once the stain is freshened and then wash as usual.

Should I just keep washing? I was a bit worried I might be making it worse LOL!

As random as this might sound maybe try soaking in vinegar and bicarb soda then machine wash?? I know this worked for me :)

Leasha I've just pried my butt of the couch and looked for you. It's Sard Oxy Plus Degreaser.

Can you try washing it with just bicarb? Might help cut through the oil?

Try the sard stuff, if that doesn't work I'll walk you through my degreaser trick. I've even got lipgloss out with it.

Ok, I'll give the Sard a go :) I'll be back tomorrow arvo!

I was going to suggest rubbing the oil patch in talc and brushing it out - would have been easier before it was washed though
