HELP. DS HIGH temp

I just took DS temp and its 38.0 I have given him panadol and neurophen...

Is that all? I do?

Cold compress???

Its his bed time now..Should i put him to bed? in summer PJ's??

DS1 has temp 38.6 C now hmm strange

gave him panadol and waiting to see if it helps will probably put him to bed in normal pj's but he has a little while till bed time.

I would dress him normally, if it goes over 38 I would then adminster Panadol or Neurofen, generally up to aroun 38 or so I don't medicate DD as it is better that her body learns to fight the fever. But if it goes over or doesn't drop after a period of time then I medicate.

Keep an eye on him, keep his fluids up, and keep him comfortable. He may want extra cuddles :hug:

That is quite high, if you have already given panadol then you need to cool him down by removing excess clothing and using a damp cloth on his forehead or something. I would call an after hours medical advice number and talk to a nurse for advice on what to do. Sorry I cannot be of more help I just dont want to give you the wrong advice - I would be calling a nurse on call or something straight away.

Just wanted to add, with the damp cloth, make it luke warm not cold. :) Hope your DS is feeling better soon.

What time did you give him panadol and what time did you give nurofen? (I'm assuming that you've staggered the doses).

Did his temperature increase to 39 within an hour of medicating - ie. before drugs have had a chance to take effect?

If the temperature hasn't responded to nurofen or panadol and has continued to rise after they would have had time to take effect then I would get him checked out asap.

You can also put him in a luke warm bath. My DS had a temp of 39.5 when we had him checked by the GP yesterday about 2 hours after Nurofen and he said to make sure you give Panadol and Nurofen to help bring the temp down but he said to make sure we write down the exact times he was given either medication as to not give him too much.
