4 year old keeps scratching her face

Hi

I have a 4 year old daughter (she is one of 4 kids, the oldest is 13, the youngest nearly 1). She is lately picking and scratching at her face. It started when she tripped outside and scraped her chin. She picked at that and it bled. And now any little scratch on her face and she will make it bleed. I cut her fingernails as short as I can, and she has yet again just picked another scratch!! She'a beautiful little girl and it's breaking my heart she is doing this. Any suggestions? And no, she won't wear gloves or band aids on her fingers.

No suggestions but just wanted to share that my 2.5 ds is doing the same thing. Like your DD he got a scratch and now he just picks at his face. Each time he goes to do it we tell him it's grotty and will make home bleed. He stops when we say that. I presume it's a phase that will pass.

Yeah I think it's just a phase.. I have been telling her no this or that (e.g Chocolate) until it gets better..but I think maybe a reward would be better..so I am going to suggest stickers or taking her somewhere instead if she STOPS scratching
