I was 10 days past my due date for both DD and DS and now pregnant with a third am wondering if I will go over again.
Both labours were induced (gel and then waters broken) and went very quickly, but just hate the knowing of induction date if booked and having time to think/worry about it.
Am hoping this time my waters will break on their own or contractions might start by themselves, taking me by 'surprise' and then I won't have time to think about it all :pray:
Who says you were actually overdue? Full term is up to 42 weeks and due dates are not accurate. You're due when the baby comes ;)
At the end of the day, anything could happen - how long is a piece of string! That said, i'd also say there is a good chance your own unique body will do what it always knows how to, which is a good thing. Your body is doing something which obviously is in it's rhythm. “My pregnancies were all long. My twins were born by induction at 40 weeks and the next baby was born by induction at 42 weeks. By child number 4 I decided on a homebirth – which meant that I would need to go into labour naturally. Finally at 43 weeks and 4 days that happened. It isn’t recommended to go that long, however he was fine, although his skin peeled off everywhere. Baby number 5 was 42 weeks and 3 days, also born at home. I did agree to regular monitoring in the last week to check that the baby was OK.”

What are my rights with regards to my Obstetrician? I think she will recommend induction by 10 days 'over'. What should happen if I tell her I want to go to at least 42 weeks?
Your rights.... well it's your body and your baby, and you need to consent to any medical procedures. They can't force or bully you into anything or they could get sued doing something against your will. It's not illegal to say no, you want to wait longer, unless there is a medically evident condition preventing you from continuing :)

99% of the time they do ;) And even then, you could say 100% - some come before their guessdate (I prefer that to due date ;)) and some come after... for all sorts of reasons. For most they are normal and ready, and for some, they need help, so it's time to vacate. They are pretty clever ;)
