I'm 31 weeks and my lower back is causing me a lot of pain. I've never had back problems and didn't have an usually sore back with my first pregnancy.
Any suggestions as to who would give me some relief? Physio, chiro or bowen therapy are the only options available to me (I'm in a rural area).

Any of them can help, my advice would be to talk to each of them and see what they think they can do to help. My old chiro wouldn't treat me at 24 weeks told me to put up with it. I found a great physio who had me back on my feet really quickly.
Osteo - especially one who does cranio sacral work. They get a great response for pregnant women and babies also ;) When the BB Centre's osteo clients came out they were soooo happy with their treatment.

Sequoia. I have been seeing a Chiro and it has helped me so much! I didn't know which way to go at the time and this guy wasn't especially geared toward pregnancy but he knew his stuff and has a 'high, low' table which is an electronic table that takes you from standing to lying. Maybe being in the country, she/he may not have that gizmo but my Chiro did originally work on me on the normal bed - I thought in my head 'uhhh how is that going to work with my tummy?' but he was able to do the adjustment while I was lying on my side.

I go to a chiro once a week hun, i have no doubt that my trouble free pregnancy is due to my chiropractic care! Cant praise it enough! Now that im 30 weeks i get adjusted on my back, they do my neck too. I had an ear ache thurs morning and as soon as i had my adjustment it was gone! Arg love it! Sorry to carry on lol!

I also have a chiropractic adjustment every week and I also have acupuncture every fortnight. Seeing you are in the country I'd say to go and see whoever is in your area. A physio may be able to give you some stretches that you can do at home every day which will also help but a chiro will be best for realigning your spine/pelvis. Hope that helps. I've had Bowen before a few times but didn't feel like it did anything for me.
I'd ring around and see if any of them have particular experience with pregnancy. I've tried chiro & phsyio in the past with good results, but I think it also depends on the practitioners area of interest. Given you're in a rural area, it's possible they do just cover everything... in which case I'd vote physio :) GL with getting some help.
I have always preferred Chiro. I had had back problems for as long as I can remember. However, I DID my back in a few days ago & knowing Chiro & Physio doesn't help within the first few days of me doing the injury, I decided to try Accupuncture. For the first time EVER in my life I got instant relief & was 100% only 2 days later. I truely felt like a miracle had happened. I would never have believed it if I didn't experience it myself. I know it's not on your list of options, but if there is one around it would definately be worth considering
I've got a physio appt tomorrow afternoon so hopefully I get some relief from that. DH's Bowen guy wouldn't see me as I'm in my third tri and risk going into labour he said. Thanks for the acupuncture tip Georgi, I'm in Perth from 38 weeks to have bubs and there is a guy in Nedlands who does acupuncture during pregnancy and also for labour induction so I'll keep that in mind.
Have you considered some gentle yoga stretches? I know it helped me a lot with back pain with my second pregnancy, but my pain was 1st trimester, so it might be different for you. If you're interested, I think I have some jpgs on my desktop I could email to you.

Thanks for checking on me A. Appt was bliss! She gently rubbed my right side which is far more sore than the other side and then some TENS. Felt great last night but it's bad again when I wake up. She showed me some gentle stretches and I'm to try and avoid picking up DS (who weighs 13kg) and putting him on my left hip if I can help it as that exacerbates the problem.:
I have another appt next Monday, shame it's a 80km round trip to get some relief!

Glad you got a little releif!! I find at the moment im waking up with sore hips depending how i sleep, like i have to limp around for a bit before i can walk properly! I must lay funny!

Glad your appointment went well... Something else I thought of was getting a maternity support / belt. I ordered 2 last week and they arrived today. I'm so happy with them! One is the loving comfort maternity support. I wore it for 3 hours this afternoon and I could move with no problems (it didn't scrunch up or go out of place etc) and it's soft on my skin etc. The other one is the mother to be maternity support. It is much firmer so it gives stronger support. It claims to really ease pain but I haven't 'worn' it to really comment yet but I got both in case my back is really sore one day (or later in pregnancy) and I want the extra support, but for everyday wear I'm so happy with the loving comfort one.
