I used to drink real soy milk, made from scratch. No machine though. A gf of mines mum used to make it. Was a lengthy process but not difficult and TBH tasted anything better you can buy at the store. I can find out how she does it if you like? It's an old family chinese recipe.
thanks cai, im after it for oat milk though not soy :( sounds interesting though
Oooh, never heard of this! Will be looking out for responses :) We go through lots of rice and oat milk.
lol us too! maybe we sould go halves!!
Can I please hijack and ask Rogue please can I grab that recipie? We are soy drinkers here :)
:D I've created a monster! AAAAges ago, I found a blog of a chick who made all her own milks. She always self-fortified with calcium, something worth considering. She just got the cheap supplements from the pharmacy and ground them up in a mortar and pestle to dump them in.
I'm a terrible processed-food-whore when it comes to soy milk. The more ingredients on the list, the better  Fresh stuff just doesn't do it for me.
I make my own rice milk. I use brown rice, I have a whizz bang blender called a vitamix. I whizz brown rice (uncoocked) for 30 seconds in the blender, 1 cup rice to 3 cups water. And then I leave it over night. In the morning I pour it over a cheese cloth and wah lah..... rice milk!
I have done it prior to rice milk, but I have partially cooked the brown rice, and then poured water over it and mixed it with a bahmix for a few minutes and then left it overnight and put it through a seive or cheese cloth.
HTH!!!
mmmm might try and make it mysef christy, oat milk seems pretty basic!
