organising the nursery
ok this might just be attack of the nesting bug but i really hate how the nursery is set up at the moment and how the cupboards were organised. it seems like there is heaps of space wasted in the room and nothing is in convenient places...:wall:
see the attached link of what the nursery looks like atm and PLEASE give me some suggestions, it has got to the stage where i pulled everything out of the cupboards and cant bring myself to put stuff back in cos i no i will just pull it back out and redo it...

I personally like to have the change table set up beside where ever the clothes are kept. Ie next to the hest of drawers, or the wardrobe. I find it easier to access things in case of events like unexpected pooplosions, or to grab the creams for nappy rash etc.
I also like to have as much of the cot (2 of the 4 sides) butted up against the wall so it's 2 less sides for arms or legs to escape out of iykwim.
I also have some sort of cupboard or drawers set up near the powerpoint. Then I can put a touch lamp on it for if bub's likes to sleep with a bit of light, or so I can put it on dimmly for middle of the night trips into the room, and I don't need to have the big blaring light on iykwim!
I have to say I love your furniture and floor rug though! So cute! :D

This probably isn't going to seem very helpful, but I think it looks good the way it is. If it's any consolation, I did the exact same thing with all of my kids about a month before I was due.

organising the nursery
Brotherly love had good suggestions you want everything close to you at the change table. ATM it looks like everything is just around the wall. What about moving the bassinet to the middle of the room. It will be the focal point to begin with anyway and the room won't look so empty.

We have our mobile over the changing table, so it gives bub something to look at while i am changing her. She sleeps in our room in a hammock now, but when she goes in to her cot if we move the mobile to the cot, it will also give her something familiar to look at.
If you swapped the change table and bassinet around, the change table would be near the clothes cupboard. Have the change table with the short side along the wall (like you have on the other wall). You could also chnage the cot around with the short side along the wall which would fill the room abit more, and spread the things on the wall.
I like the chest under the window, and love your furniture.

How bout....
the change table where the bassinette is - like Kate said,
The cot sort of where it is, but in the corner - like BL said (I'm a fan of having it 'grounded' too
The basineete where the change table is, but angled
The little chest of drawers next to the cot (but when bub gets a bit older that is a great temptation to pull things off IYKWIM
and the toy chest and clothes hamper near the door on the left?
But FWIW, I changed mine about 3 times before they were born and then several after - every time I got fed up where stuff was until I found my groove.
The above suggestions are what worked for me, but a nesting mumma like yourself will find yours ;)
Have fun!

hahaha thanks everyone, i may just go and hijack DF's muscles to move stuff around right now.... :D im sure he'll be thrilled (hehehehe)

I'd probably be inclined to move the cot closer to the back wall (near the window) OR maybe instead of the drawers putting the chair where you will feed...i think what is lacking (in an otherwise lovely room!) is a focal point ITMS. a place where you will feel comfy to spend time in IYKWIM.
Also just looking again at the pics, if you move the cot closer to the back wall then you have more room for the bassinette near the BIRs.
OR: you could put the bassinette in the far corner (where the small drawers are) and move the cot *slightly* down to the BIRs...or, and you're DH would probably really groan at this moving suggestion...put the cot on the other side...(where the changetable is). that way the changetable is near the bassinette AND the BIRs...
(btw that bassinette is gorgeous!) ha ha! i just realised i like said a MILLION things LOL!

hokay! thanks everyone for your ideas! my mum and i ended up moving all the furniture around last night.
far out we tried about 5million different combinations but found 1 that i think i can live with, so will leave it for a couple of days and see how i feel.
i will post a pic when i find the camera...

I'm at the same point.. a month to go (probably less) and I want to change it. But we don't have our drawers yet as they are on order, and we don't have a very big room so I'm worried it will look cramped...
But I do agree with having 2 sides of the cot against walls and the change table near clothes etc...
GL.. not long to go now! :)
